I'm a 22-year-old recent graduate of California Baptist University with a BA in English. Now I'm back home in a small town in western Ohio. Mostly I'm just trying to help however I can!

  • Cheaper place to relocate for single female?

I'm a 24-year-old female with a bachelor's degree in English who is currently living in Ohio but really want to relocate. I have a job as a reporter making about $30,000 per year and have about $600 per month in student loan payments (which is what's dragging me down) and $150 in other monthly expenses that wouldn't change if I moved. I know with the economy it's a horrible time to be looking, but I figured I would see if anyone has any recommendations for places that I'd have a chance at a job and relatively low-cost living. I don't actually want to be in journalism (fiction publishing is my ultimate goal), but know until I go to grad school it's got to be on the table. The top states I want to live in are Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. Other than that, the farther west and the less snow the better, but I'm open to anything.

  • Getting into NYC without your car?

Hi! I'm planning a trip to the Northeast this coming week that might include a day trip into NYC. I will be driving to Maryland first, and then up to the city from there. The only problem is, I've been to NYC before and I know I do not want to take my car anywhere near there -- for driving and parking expenses reasons.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get near enough a subway without getting into really stressful New York traffic? Thanks!

  • Possibly relocating to Grand Rapids, Michigan?

Hello :-) I'm a 22-year-old, single female looking at applying to work at Zondervan. I was just wondering if someone could give some pointers on areas of the city to avoid/look for when looking at housing and any other general knowledge that might help. Is the cost of living very expensive? I just graduated college so I'm about to have very large loan payments and need to know if I can afford rent and such on about $30,000 a year -- probably $12,000 of that will go to loans. Thanks in advance!

  • Character with name ending in s and apostrophes?

So, I'm having a debate with a friend over our book character's name and uses of apostrophes. I've looked up/know the rules of apostrophe useage (which is no help because they all disagree anyway) and she eventually challenged me to find a published book with a character in it whose name is one syllable (Chris, James, etc.), ends in s, and has only an apostrophe (no " 's "). Can anyone think of a book fitting this?

  • Any information on Julia Sopha (married name)?

Hello :) I'm working on genealogy research right now and am unable to find any more information on my great-grandmother. I'm going through the 1930s census, page by page, but haven't found anything yet. If anyone knows anything or would be kind enough to use a paid site they have a subscription to, I would appreciate it! Here are her details:

Julia Sopha (maiden name *possibly* Albert)

Born: January 29, 1903 in Germany

Died: June 25, 1968 in Columbus, Ohio (Franklin County)

Married Arthur Sopha, uncertain of the year

I am also uncertain what year she came over from Germany.

She had one daughter in 1928, Helen Lucille who is still alive, and one son, Robert, who died less than a year old in 1926.

If you need anything else, I would be happy to help! Thank you!!!

  • Are Darcy's parents living?

Yes, I've read the novel. I just cannot remember if he and Georgiana's parents are still living, and if they aren't, does that make her his ward?

  • Question about a gun shot to the upper arm?

I'm an author who has extensively searched the internet looking for a site that will answer a couple questions about gunshot wounds for me, but I haven't been successful. So my first question would be if anyone has any good, generalized sites that might discuss the various effects of different wounds and what their treatment and recovery times would be. If not, does anyone happen to know? I don't want the character to have too many lasting effects, but need to know general things like if the bullet would need removed or if it would pass through, what kind of surgeries might be required, what the implications of such a wound would be, and recovery times. Any other information that might help make the scene more realistic would be greatly appreciated!

  • Permanent Retainers and Tooth Whitening?

I have just begun whitening my teeth using Crest Whitestrips. I also have a permanent retainer afixed to my lower teeth that has been there for nearly three years. Since beginning the treatment three days ago, the surface of the glue seems to be a little rougher. I was just wondering if I'm imagining this or if the ingredients in the strips are eating away the glue as well as the stains.
