Do you have experience with bathroom resurfacing?

I am considering having the tile and tub resurfaced in my bathroom instead of replacing them. Is this cost effective, is it durable, and does the end product look good?

This is absolutely the way to go if your existing tile is not uneven. Resurfacing is very cost effective, extremely durable and the end product looks fantastic. No one else will ever know if you don't tell!! Just make sure the company you use is licensed and insured, and only give them a 50% deposit upfront - that way you can make sure you are satisfied before they have all of your money! Also, check their warranty policy - this will tell you how reputable the company is as well.

I would NOT do the bath tub. I had mine done by a very highly respected man. He did it correctly and prepped it perfectly, but this is what happened over a short time. When I showered I dropped a plastic bottle in the tub a couple of times. What people don't realize is that it created fracture in the paint. Not visible to the naked eye, but it was there. If you draw a bath and let the water sit for a while, the water gets underneath the fracture and the paint will bubble over time. I had my tub redone again and the same thing happened. The man that did this job was wonderful to me and came back twice. He said it never happened to any of his other jobs and I believe him. I wasn't dropping metal objects into the tub and all I dropped was a large bottle of shampoo. If you take baths it will happen in time. Don't waste waste your money. Why do you think they came out with those plastic inserts that you can now put over your bath tub. Trust me I know what happens and I don't want this to happen to you.

I know a lot of people who have had the tub resurfaced. Price was great and even better they said it was better sealed then before. As far as tile I do not know.
