My husband stinks!?

So my hubby eats a lot of onions and even the day after eating them, it seems the stench is coming out of his pores. I can't stand to be even around his face or in the same car with him because it's so bad. He laughs at me and blames it on my super intense sense of smell due to my pregnant condition, but regardless, he still stinks and he still stank before I was pregnant. It's hurting the relationship because I can't even kiss him without grimacing or pushing him away. He brushes his teeth alot and doesnt have poor hygene. But, I know that onion stench is absorbed in your blood. Isn't there something he can eat to neutralize the stench? I know there used to be this pill on the market that tackled garlic breath, but I don't remember the name. PLEASE HELP!

Update:

Glad to see everyone is so mature here. Yes, Im divorcing my husband over onions. Idiots. I'm trying to compromise here and all I get are childish unrealistic answers. I really needed help.

He has no right to just laugh at you and make no effort to fix this-that's really disrespectful of you, especially since you're carrying his child now!

Vidalia onions are less intense; one good note is that it should be helping his cholesterol :)

Hello! I really feel for you. It is true that during pregnancy the hormones in your body highten your sensory sensitivity. I couln't stand the smell of certain flowers/perfumes, it smelled like rotting rubbish. But that's no help to you now. I suggest you attack the problem from several angles simultaneously.

    1. If you can, eat onions yourself, that will help in masking the worst.

    2. Talk him into eating less, as suggested before, you are cutting out alcohol so it's only fair he do something too.

    3. Go to your doctor together. I've read somewhere that for people with excessive body odour (including the onion causing one) there is a solution of aluminium cholride which is applied to the skin, but it can lead to ecsema if used too long.

    4. Wash his clothes and bed linen more often,.

    5. Masking the smell is hard. My father before he passed away smelled really vile but no ammount of fancy room sprays helped. Airing the rooms well is the only thing that works.

    6. Last but not least - don't laugh at this - get a dog. You'll be surprised how dog smell overpowers other stuff. No cats while you're pregnant though, read the warning in your books. For your new baby growing up with a pet and crawling around the dirt / garden is the best thing to boost it's immune system and avoid later asthma/allergies.

Hope this helps. I've been married for 18 years with 2 pregnancies behind me and a husband who from time to time smelled so bad he made me want to retch. But not regularly like yours. You are very brave. At the end of the day, it's your relationship that's on the line. Find the nerve to talk to him about it, maybe go to councelling or a neutral zone if this doesn't work.

The best of luck with the problem and a safe delivery.

Hi, There is a tablet he can take I suggest you go into boots pharmacy and see if they can help you out but they should be able to supply you with something, cos if it is killing your relationship then you seriously need help with his onion breathe.

He could use mouth wash you know that new listerine mouth wash has come out I think it is either the purple mouth was or the clear one, and or garlic tablets they should work.

of course you'll notice the smell more while you're pregnant, but it's cruel of him to find that funny! you're going to have to tell him straight, it's the pickled onions or you! ask him how he'd feel if you always reeked of something that bothers him. tell him you can't kiss him or be close to him because the smell puts you off. i know you love him so you'll do it gently! if he realises how bad it is for you, he'll either stop eating them or find a neutraliser himself. he loves you too, so he'll want to do something about it. good luck, diane.

Oh specific...my husband stank too. He use to placed on a definite variety of cologne and it use to make me sense sick, we replaced into assembly acquaintances and one had the comparable on...I had to make an apology i'm no longer able to stand close to you you stink..Hubby then defined i think of I stumbled on fairly rude. basically say, i'm truly sorry expensive i do no longer advise it nasty yet my experience of smell is rather heightened and eveythings smells (it does in being pregnant inspite of the undeniable fact that)

yah that would be alittle hard to handle. Maybe cut back on cooking onions every night. Maybe this will help with the onion breath

Because you're pregnant your sense of smell is probably heightened.

He should stay away from onions while you're pregnant.....that's the least he can do.
