Can i charge my notebook without starting it?

I want to charge my notebook without starting / booting it.. as we all do to charge our cellphone even on switchoff...If we can..then please tell me the Pros and Cons of this technique of charging the notebook.. Please Help.

    YES YOU CAN I DO IT ALL THE TIME AND IT ACTUALLY CHARGES FASTER THAT WAY!

    It is better and faster to charge your notebook while it is turned off because the CPU and disk drives aren't using all of the power. Just be sure to unplug when it is done charging if you aren't using a modern Lithuim-Ion battery.

    Yes that is how I charged my laptop before. i did it when it was on too but it wasnt a complete charge then it went weaker faster actually. It is better for it to do it when it is off. There should eb a light that lights up when it is off to show that it is charging. Good Luck.

    Yes you can charge your laptop without booting/starting it. There are no cons to it.

    I think it charges normally if its turned off I don't think it has to be turned on. I guess it would charge quicker if it was turned off because it wouldn't be using power the way it would have done if it was turned on.
