Does anyone know anything about the Social Security Administration?
***Sorry if I keep asking this repetitively, but I'm still unclear & not underestanding well. I think it was because I wasn't wording myself correctly enough for answerers to understand. I think I said it better & more clearly now. I'm trying to look into the PASS program. A program that helps you achieve a work goal, & I'm confused about it. Do they A)allow you to WORK AND set aside SSI money for your work goal @ the same time, while working on trying to achieve your CAREER goal? Or do you B) just set aside your benefit money WITHOUT working & save like $100/month. If it's "B", then that'll get me NOWHERE! If you set aside $100/month for a yr., that's $1,200. That won't help me get a car or any equipment necessary to attain my work goal.
Also, can you have the PASS AND use the Ticket-To-Work BOTH @ the SAME time? If that's the case, then I'd be ALL set! :-)
Can you please e-mail me & tell me all you can? candy_grandpre@yahoo.com THANKS VERY MUCH!
The people @ the Social Security office people were very rude to me & said they can't give me any info since the PASS is under a different program, but still helps out with Social Security. I've tried calling & leaving messages for the PASS program coordinator, & he never returns my calls.
CHILISWOMAN, you didn't have to answer rudely. If you were sick & tired of answering my question, you weren't OBLIGATED to answer if you're gonna be hateful & nasty. & you STILL didn't explain it well enough for me to understand!

To be the most simple possible...
PASS is a saving program that is have to be approved by the Social Security Admininstrator. The (PASS) savings is not to be touch by the SSI reporting system far as deducting your monthly SSI check. This program is for people who want save up money for an item as business or similar at a fast pace.
The maximum asset for the PASS account that is approved by the Social Social Security is $2,000. You really can't go beyound $2,000 otherwise SSA would think you are exploiting. (Thank you for pointing out my mistake. Someone mentioned that it not $2,000 or more)
You will need to visit http://www.socialsecurity.gov/disabilityresearch/w... and call the toll free number of the PASS Cadre department. You going to need an application and instruction about making a business plan.
The application for the PASS is located in this link below.
http://www.socialsecurity.gov/online/ssa-545.pdf
Print and fill it out then hand deliver to a proper PASS department or place that can take your case along with the plan.
If there is a specific tool or item that you need for your work that is worth over $2,000 or any amounts. You would have to apply for PESS - Property Essential to Self-Support. You are reporting to the SSA for the inventory that you are buying that you will be using for the job. (Business and trade is NOT included)
For business and trade earning, you can apply for a SGA status. An approved SGA program that allow you to make money from self-employed job and earn SSI at the same time.
The Ticket to Work Program is a no brainer job searching training. It not for everyone, there are people that are independent in finding a job but that doesn't mean they going to get a job from this program. Therefore, if you know how to find a job with all method learned, it would be a waste of time to go through this program.
I can't seem to find the program details that talk about earning $2 from job that deduct every $1 from SSI. Not sure if this program has been recently disbanded. Would be helpful if you apply for this program also.

Call Social Security Administration and set up an appointment to ask these questions or call Legal Aid. I have noticed the ones who go back to work part time for 6 months and continue to receive SS Disability and cannot work full time are kicked out of the system and have to work full time or starve.

Yes, you need to report any and all changes to social security administration, especially when your on SSI, if you do not and they will eventually find out you will owe them the money back and it could be a lot, then your check will be lowered each month to pay back the overpayment.

I explained this before and I don't know why you still don't understand.
A ticket to work is just the way an organization gets paid for helping you find a job. You can always use it with anyone willing to take it.
A PASS can be used to save your money you make in benefits or salary in excess of the 2,000 you are allowed to save. You have to have a PASS agreement before you start saving in a PASS account.
ETA: If you can't understand that explanation than I doubt very much you can get a PASS. I don't mean to be nasty but it has been answered for you several times. PASSes are complicated to get.
When you get SSI you can only save up to 2,000 or you have to start to pay back your check.
You get an approved PASS agreement plan you can put money in a PASS account. This can be benefits or salary money. SALARY=WORKING. ANY MONEY!!!! It can be a 5,000 gift from your Grandma to help you get started.
If you have SSI you have a Ticket to Work. IF YOU CAN GET SOMEONE TO TAKE IT one of the many things they can do is to help you write a PASS plan so you can be better employed. A PASS plan is about employment. A TICKET to WORK is about getting employed. Some organizations that help people with disabilities do not take the TICKET to WORK, some do not help with PASS plans - so if you can find one that will take your ticket and knows how to write a PASS plan then you can do it.
ETA: Tech, you are posting incorrect info. There is no limit as to how much money you can put into a PASS account. You can save any amount of money approved in your PASS. The 2,000 savings limit is for anyone receiving SSI, but not including a PASS. I have a friend who used a PASS for special computer equipment that cost him about $7,000. I have another friend who saved up for the capital to start his business it was in the double digits.

The SSA churns cases, so when you go down to an office or call, they are busy as heck, from cooking your books. Plan on getting burned, a lot. They cheat, at even getting you to OHA. Plan on discovering scandals, and expect to get REALLY ground down, for your trouble.

I think it best if you call them and talk to a SS person. They have all the answers!
