Yep, i noticed this recently aswell... there do seem to be less answers.

Maybe it's quiet because we've just had Christmas, and people have lots of new toys to play with...

or maybe there are more interesting social network sites and virtual worlds that people are spending time on.

But i think that Yahoo! aren't promoting Answers at the moment... i think that they are focused on starting up Mash (replacement for 360) at the moment and putting all of their resources into that. So they might be neglecting Answers, in terms of development and advertising.

I used to see Answers advertised alot, but now i never see it advertised.. I hope they aren't going to shut it down.

I think they might incorporate it into the new Mash social network site, so it becomes a social network as well as a questions and answers site... i might be wrong.

I think it still depends on the actual question really. I've been on here a long time too and the ONLY thing I don't understand that happens now is more people are turning others in for violations that are CLEARLY NOT violations. I finally deleted ALL of my contacts because it was happening to me (I kind of thought this may be where your question was going). You can still ask like "silly type" questions and get a ton of answers though. Like, I won't answer anything I know nothing about. You'll never find me on "auto mechancs" questions for instance (unless I'm ASKING a question) -- LOL

Well some people stop answering questions on YA, and just don't bother to answer anymore questions. One of the other reasons is; some people only want to answer certain questions, and not others. Aslo, it depends on on the time of day, and what category the questions is in. No people aren't one certain category in one part of the day.

I think its become too popular, sort of like Myspace. And well...too much of a good thing. I try to answer as many questions I can as long as I know what I'm talking about. There are lots of people who just drop a unneeded response just for points I'd assume.

Too much retarded questions being posted. Also, no one nowadays wants to answer a descent question, alot of people online go for the points (don't give real answers), alot of young people here, etc.

Too many folks take themselves too seriously on Yahoo Answers - taking ALOT of the fun out of things with excessive reporting.

Well, I think it's because questions are getting more and more specific, and many people don't know the answers anymore. Anyway, some questions are just more popular, I guess.

There are too many questions, so your question doesn't appear on that first page for very long...and it kind of gets lost.

It also depends on how interesting the question is

Probably too many answers being asked again and again. People are tired of answering the same questions I guess?

people are more picky with the questions they choose to answer now. most people are looking to be a top contributer or at least ranked in a particular area
