Do you think car salesmen will disappear with the Internet? Specially in new dealerships.?

You could order your car new from the factory and not having to deal with all the usual problems and haggle you have to nowadays when you want to buy a new car.

No - if anything, Internet shoppers make up 50% or more of the business in a dealership and dealers are striving to better market to and manage their Internet shoppers.

Clients will always want to drive, smell, touch and see their car before wiring money to a bank and having it turn up in their drive away. If they are trading in a car, someone is always going to need to appraise it in person. You cannot evaluate condition and the value of someones current car over the internet or via email.

The manufacturer does not want to get involved in any of these details when they can simply make the cars, sell them to the dealership (giving the manufacturer all of their money with none of the pain) and letting the dealer handle the details.
