Will the SEC champion always be in the BCS championship?
With the current BCS system for 2 seasons we have had OSU playing the SEC champion. Teams like USC and a hot Georgia team that didn't win the conference title get left out. Is it fair to give the SEC champion the benefit of the doubt and make the BCS championship consistently the SEC versus everybody else?
To Josh T. I realize that Georgia is an SEC team. Do you realize that they did not win the SEC championship? Do you also realize that they never played LSU this season?
My question does not ask if the SEC was in the BCS championship every year. I am asking for a glimpse into the future. Assume that a playoff system is not a possibility.

Very good question. I truly believe Florida deserved to be there last year instead of Michigan, one of several reasons being that Florida had the toughest schedule in the nation last year, and as we saw in the bowl game, Michigan wasn't championship material even though they were a very good football team. Now this year, there are many who believe that Kansas should have been there but yet again I see a team that did not win their conference and beat only one top 25 team. As we saw Oklahoma did not deserve it and neither did Hawaii. Mizzou couldn't win their conference either. In my opinion, the best teams in college the past 8 weeks were USC and Georgia. Now, I'm am SEC guy and I love LSU and in their defense, they did win the toughest conference in the nation in a season where they beat 6 top 25 teams. I feel there is no argument against that. By the way, OSU is a very good team with alot of guys coming back next year and will have a very good chance at winning the title. They moved the ball well against LSU. Hats off to those guys and to their coach who is a classy guy.

The BSC isn't fair.
Until we get an actual playoff system, there really can't be a true 'National Champ' that everyone can agree on, even if it hurts.
Oh, and the last time I looked, that hot Georgia team was in the SEC. ;)
To answer your question, no the SEC champ won't always be in the BCS Championship game. They just were for the past two years. In 2004 Auburn had a perfect season, which included a 38-28 win over Tennessee in the 2004 SEC Championship game and they played in the Sugar Bowl, not the BCS Championship game.

Georgia, who "got left out" is also an SEC team Einstein. The SEC just generally has one of the top teams in the nation and get a shot at the NC. It won't always be the case, but it seems to be the trend at present. I seem to remember USC and Texas (not SEC teams) playing for the title 2 years ago.

pac 10 has a conference title game?
georgia got the rear ends handed to them by tennessee (who did play for the sec title).
usc didn't get in because when one compares the stanford loss to either of ls-who's losses, there is only one choice.
every year each of the bcs conferences has the opportunity to send a representative to the national championship game, as is, it isn't just favoring the SEC currently... if that's the case, then it is definitely favoring the big 10 as well

no, what kind of question is this. Tennessee was close to winning the SEC and they would have not been in the Championship. It would have come down maybe to Virgina Tech.
Source(s): The question you should ask is why do we not have a playoff system when clearly teams like Oklahoma, Georgia, Virginia Tech, Kansas, West Virgina, and USC all deserve some kinda shot at the title. - KPLv 51 decade ago
USC deserves to play NC game. UGA is not. LSU claimed the SEC crow so LSU is in NC game.
