How long can USA stay the world's only superpower?

Based on development curves,

I would think our position as sole superpower is done by 2020, probably sooner.

Russia has regained internal coherance & funded with petrodollars, is seeing it's influence rise. It still have a very large standing army, technologically sophisticated air force & nuclear weapons, as well as vast reserves of still untapped mineral wealth. Don't ever count the Russians out.

My first pick for next superpower to challange us is China-very strong economic growth, a huge standing army, huge amounts of cash reserves which it is using to modernize & update it's weapons systems, and because of it's own need for energy resources, is actively pursuing a global agenda. Don't be suprised when they either start building their own aircraft carriers (they've already bought several smaller carriers as well as a number of submarines)

The U.S. will remain a Superpower state as long as other states keep ordering weapons and oil and gas supplies and keeping Third World nations in debt paying back for the same. I do not think however that the U.S. is the worlds ONLY Superpower. China is fasly catching up, and appears(at least on the surface), to be in a moment of transition towards some type of democracy.

China and Russia are the two superpowers. You are a bankrupt nation, mired in colossal debt, squandering yourself in a poor attempt at creating an empire.

traditionally. the afgans and the iraqis have constantly been stable adequate to defeat invaders. the strategy of guerilla conflict will frequently defeat invaders. easily Vietnam has no longer dwindled from the minds of the U. S. defense force. did no longer the unique 13 colonies use the comparable tactic against the British? i assume the training of background have not been discovered. quite of becoming enemies why no longer make friends by ability of helping, no longer killing human beings

Amercia's superpower status ended with the Bush Sr. era. Under clinton and Bush jr. nothing but failure. It could easily be reclaimed, but the liberals won't allow it to be.

Superpower status depends largely on your economy...as we have become a debtor nation, our status of superspower wont last

Who knows.. I'm an American but I don't think it will last, I don't even really care, But Russia will supposedly rise again according to the bible, so most likely Russia will but they wont be on anyone side, they will be against everyone.
