What is a great paying job that doesn't require a degree?

I am currently going to school to studying business and engineering. I live in Los Angeles, where good pay is required to survive. What kind of jobs have great pay without having a degree? I always hear about women and some men stumbling upon great paying jobs, I'd rather just ask than waiting to stumble.

    Trade Unions are great jobs. Carpenter, Iron Worker, Electrician etc. But it has to be Union. Husband is an Iron Worker and he makes about $75 an hour including bennies.
