How can you safely remove tape off a car’s outside paint?

How can you safely remove tape off a car’s outside paint? For example from the hood let’s say. Not masking tape, but strong scotch tape for boxes. It got on the car’s paint job for over 2 weeks. It was holding a plastic bag over the window because someone broke it. When the window was fixed and they started to take the tape off the paint was coming with it. Any advice would be great.

Ouch, me and my dad want through that, I reccomend using a blow drier or something that would heat up the stuff that sticks to the car. But what I did was ripp the tape off. There wasnt any scratches al I did was wash the tape off with a good solvent to break down the stickey materal.

    Clear Tape For Cars

Aeresol product made from 3m called adhesive remover.it's a tall red and white can.It probably cost $20.00 or so.It's worth every penny of it.spray it on a cotton soft rag and rub on the tape till it's wet some what and that should loosen it up.might have to do this procedure a few times. This product is safe on auto finishes too. This can take off scuff marks on outside of the vehicles, not scratches.I know this stuff works, because I am an auto painter and use this stuff alot.Note: do this when the car is warm and not so cold outside!Go to any auto part store.

Get a heat gun and warm the tape to soften it. Then saturate the tape with WD40. Let it sit until it starts absorbing into the tape. Then spray again and start lightly pulling and rubbing the tape. It will take a little time. But the paint will not be ruined.

You can take it off with a product like GooGone or Goof Off. Or you can remove it with a heat gun (a combination of a hair dryer and GooGone may also work.)

I had alot of sticky road tar on my car, and I used a damp fabric softener sheet! it worked excellent on the road tar!

and was gentle on the paint. It can't hurt to give it a try.

I've removed all of the dealer logos off of all of my cars with goo-gone or goof-off. Works great.

[edited] Never use nail polish remover.

try rubbing alcohol but you may be in bad shape. It will be hard to remove without the paint coming up as well.

I would apply heat with like a blow dryer. That will make the sticky part of the tape softer and then slowly pull it off. Good Luck!
