Anyone taking Lexipro?
I was just prescribed this for GAD. I haven't taken the 1st dose yet, but I wondered if anyone else is taking it and can tell me how they felt initially. I know it takes several weeks for the full effect to become apparent, but once it does, how bad are the side effects? The one that concerns me is decreased sex drive. Mine is low as it is, I'm afraid that this will make it worse. Any advice?

I am taking 20 mg of Lexapro daily for the same reason. I started out with 5mg and gradually increased the dose over about a year. When I first started taking it I noticed that my eyelids felt sort of weird, like I'd just taken a shower and hadn't dried them off yet. This went away after a week.
I noticed after taking Lexapro for about a month, I was less anxious and more relaxed. I feel like the same person, only calmer. Taking this does not alter your personality. I was worried it would change the way I am as a person. As for the sex drive, mine is low also. But it didn't get worse, it stayed the same.
I hope this helps.

Collapsed sex drive, weight gain, and (most disturbingly) the loss of about 20 IQ points and my "edge". My doctor put me on this after I had a heart attack, and I jettisoned the disgraceful stuff down the toilet after about two months. I decided to live with the anxiety. Best decision I ever made.
