Question for Conservatives. . .?
This is really only for conservatives to answer, although I am sure some of you libs will want to put your 2 cents in too.
My question to Republican conservatives is, why aren't there more of us wanting Fred Thompson to be our next President. He is the only TRUE Conservative. He stands firm on Abortion, on gay marriage, immigration among other issues. I honestly thought all the true conservative voters would ban together and vote for Fred. Please give me your take on it all. (Nicely please :)
A definition of conservative: one who adheres to traditional methods or views.
He is the most old fashioned, one who adheres to the way it was. Then abortions and gay rights were unheard of. This is Fred Thompson.

I agree that Thompson is the most Conservative Candidate; however, he is admittedly not waging much of a campaign. Sadly; many voters are becoming less concerned with a Candidates stand on issues; rather than the Candidates image. Obama's flashy smile & meaningless catch phrases have catapulted him to the status of an MTV Rock Star. The Presidential Election is becoming more & more of a Grammy or Emmy awards show.

True conservatives believe that the government should have very little if any role on abortion or gay marriage. True conservatives should worry about returning government to its Constitutional limits and making sure that the government does the best job it can at fulfilling the obligations given to it by the Founding Fathers.
By your definition, a conservative should hold the most traditional method or view - the Constitution of the United States of America.

A lot of the smart conservatives also look for executive experience. To my knowledge, Sen. Thompson has none (correct me if I'm wrong). Conservative Republicans tend to prefer Governors. I personally consider Senators fairly useless if they have no other experience. If Thompson had a successful run as a Governor, I'd be all in for him. The prob with the repubs this year is that there are no conservatives with exec. experience.

You're right about his stances on those issues, but your definition of conservative is wrong. A conservative wants the smallest govt that is possible thus maximizing freedom. A conservative wants to strictly follow the constitution which does not grant the govt any authority on abortion or gay marriage.

Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney are also very conservative.
A vote for them is also for being conservative.
Fred also has the charisma of a toadstool and looks like a corpse. And has the least amount of experience. That hurts his nomination chances.
