I searched high and low and I know what you are talking about and you would think you would be able to find it someplace like Michaels or a craft store, but they just don't have them, but an alternative to this might be

You can also get some of that glow in the dark paint or acrylic paint with all the glitter in it and make your own stencil. On this site they also had this stencil of the nightsky with all the stars and I think you may be able to get creative and maybe use something like that. Hope that gives you some ideas. I personally would either make my own stenciles or freehand it with light yellow and glitter acrylic paints and make it like fairy dust.

I can't see the star on the log. Anyway they are easy.
First you put the colour of the background on that I suppose will be dark blue. You let it dry and then you apply a small dot of colour for the star an in whatevever way you want with a tiny dry brush while the colour of the centre of the star is still wet or even with anything like your nail or a match or a piece of cloth you add small strokes going quickly from the the centre outward for the rays or surrounding halo. The strokes should fade as you go outward because the tiny brush or whatever you use is dry.
This is one way. Of course there are other ways but you can only find out by trial and error. The important thing is to be bold when you do them. If you make a mistake you can always paint over and start again.
If you just wanto to draw geometrically shaped stars the way to do it is to draw one triangle and then another one inverted on top of it in that way you get a six points star.
Yet another way is to draw a plus sign and then adding short diagonal lines that go through the centre to make extra rays.

Well, this is the absolute best way to get a fantastic star impression in your home....
You can find someone in your area that does them to have it done for you....
Enjoy! I've never seen such nice stars as this company does! I was in a hotel room that had them on the ceiling and you'd swear you were sleeping outside...
