"It's a fraud, it's a fake," says Will Shortz, who is the puzzle editor of the New York Times and the host of a puzzle segment on National Public Radio's Weekend Edition (NPR, 11/10/96). The actual truth is that

NO other common English word ends in -gry! It's a trick question

first of all let us learn the greatness of english it acquires any type of word from any language.eg boforisation means issue of bofors scandel in india . if you split the word hun+gry hun is a short form of hunting and gry means craving to fill up ie hunting and filling so you can add gry to anything like fungry, wingry, singry, etc you will get a very huge number of easy vocabulary and also meaning easily.ok got it bye

Agh, this question annoys me (not you, I promise, just the question) because there isn't an answer, but people still ask it like, "oh any average joe will be able to answer this, you just need a basic vocabulary." It's spread around casually, even though there is no answer.

It only really annoys me because I'm very good with words, so I always just assume I'll be able to come up with an answer, but nope.

If this is indeed a trick question and the words are supposed to end in g-r-y without respect to order, the answer is "energy."
