i think it's more fashionable these to days to call yourself an atheist. It's the most fashionable topic for 1st year students.

Perhaps for some but who knows what the next person is thinking. However anyone who is on an ego trip from calling themselves Christian misses the point of being a Christian. It's about humility not ego.

Your point being?
I'm a Christian and I'm proud. I believe in God and I believe that we will all go some place better when we die.
If you want to call that an ego trip then go for it, I don't really care.

It's not an ego trip, it is a calling, and a hard one at that.
Try, really try, to love your neighbor. Or your spouse or kids when they irritate you.
Frankly, there's not much ego in accepting a duty at which I fail more often than suceed.

No. It is a title given to people who believe in the One called Jesus, the promised Messiah of the Jews. The Greek transliteration is Christ. both Messiah and Christ mean anointed One, one anointed by God to carry out a special purpose.
No ego, rather humility.

It's far more pathetic than that. Christianity is the easiest club to join. They'll take any form of riff-raff that wouldn't be accepted by any other group. Applying the label to oneself allows that individual to present an 'out of the box' "credibility" that they are incapable of attaining through their own efforts.

In the UK I'd say its more likely to be an ego battering! It is humbling to recognise that you're not perfect!

It shouldn't be. Christianity is one beggar telling another where to find a piece of bread, as the saying goes. Also, Christianity is partly an exercise in humility. It would be judgemental of me to say who i think is Christian and who isn't, as that's for God to judge.

Not ego at all. The bible says if you deny me I will deny you. There fore it's biblical to admit that you are a christian. Millions of people have been murdered for admitting to being a christian. I would be more ashamed not to admit it.

The word Christian is a name for those who follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. yours in J.C. p.w.l.
