  • How well established is the androgen receptor theory for M2F gender dysphoria?

I'm not saying I'm dubious at all, it's just that it would really help me if someone happened to give me a comparison of how strongly supported it is. Is it as reliable as the connection between diabetes and insulin or more like the parenting hypotheses for autism, or what? Can you point me in the direction of citations? All I've found so far is effectively statistically insignificant correlations with CAG repeat sequences. Please answer, this is really personally important to me - my marriage could be at stake.

  • Am I being sensible about my breasts?

I've started to develop breasts in the last few months due to hormone therapy and I find I'm being very cautious with them. For instance, I try to avoid lying on my front in bed because they get squashed. I also feel a little perturbed when my partner rests her head on my chest. Is this just being too careful or is it sensible to sleep on my side and avoid that kind of thing? It's rather uncomfortable.

  • Should a M2F trans person's head be covered when praying in church?

If you're tempted to answer this question with reference to the fact that I am transgendered, or in Biblical terms a eunuch, I would ask that you please also remember that whether or not I have sinned in this particular life decision, we are all sinners and we can all be mistaken, being imperfect human beings subject to the Fall. Please also acknowledge that this is a serious question.

So, my situation is this. I regularly lead the intercessions at my church and for the first time in a couple of weeks I will be doing so as transgendered - I stepped down from various duties at my church while the situation was resolved. When I stand up at the altar, clearly there may be some disquiet among the congregation and I would like merely to be a vessel for the Lord's will, imperfect though I may be. Given that, do you think I should cover my head? Would that be perceived as a positive thing or a mockery by the more conservative members of the church? What's God's will here?

  • Does a name change mean you lose inheritance rights?

I am considering changing my name by deed poll. I am named in my parents' wills. Does changing my name in this way mean I will no longer be able to inherit?

  • How can I tell if something is meant to be a top or a minidress?

I know this is a silly question but it's really bugging me. I bought a garment from a charity shop yesterday, the relevance of the source being that it wasn't in a particular section of the shop as it was second hand. I'm fairly tall - 5 ft 11. This garment reaches one third of the way down my thighs when I wear it. It has no particular structure - no pleats, not flared and so on. So, I can't tell if it's supposed to be a minidress for a shorter person or a T-shirt for a taller person. How would I be able to tell? I know it doesn't matter but it's doing my head in!

  • If someone really loves you, why would they care if you changed gender?

I'm gender dysphoric and love my wife. I love her because she is who she is, not because of her gender. Although it's a thought experiment, i'd still love her if she was a big, muscly hairy man with the appropriate trouser equipment, because her personality would be the same, and that's what counts. I stay male because she wants me to, but don't understand why she wants me to. She has some facial hair, and i find it endearing because it's hers. She also has some muscles, which i love because they're hers. Also, obviously i love her breasts because they're her breasts. I would love her flat chest if that's what she had, and so on. I just don't get it. Seriously, why does it matter to her whether i'm male or female? I've only been sexually interested in women before but now i'm only interested in her, and her sex doesn't matter me.

I don't get this at all. Someone explain please, because i don't want to upset her by asking.

  • Christians only please - what's the Biblical view on gender dysphoria?

Don't get me wrong, clearly if you're non-Christian you will probably have a view on this, and no doubt an interesting one with which i might well agree, but this is just directed at Christians.

The Bible is often said to speak out clearly on the subject of homosexuality. However, right now the only verses which come to mind that are the ones in the OT about castrated men not being allowed in the temple, the one in Acts about the eunuch and the stuff about not wearing the opposite gender's clothes in the OT again. Oh, and "Male and female created he them." So, bearing in mind that I am both Christian and gender dysphoric, which i've unsuccessfully and prayerfully struggled against for decades, have you any suggestions? Is there any Biblical reason why i shouldn't seek gender reassignment as such?

  • Is there a lot of homophobic trolling in this section?

I am rather hesitant to expose myself on here emotionally speaking because i suspect that it's like the rest of Y!A - full of hateful trolls. Is that so, or are people quite sympathetic here?

  • Why are the New Horizons photos black and white?

The images the New Horizons probe took of the Jovian system are monochrome. This is not commented upon at all anywhere i've looked. Why is this? Will the images of Pluto also be monochrome?

  • If i lose weight while transitioning, will it help me disguise my breasts?

Things are currently a bit awkward between my wife and me because after a lifetime of wanting to resolve the unhappiness i have as a result of having a male body, which she's known about since the start of our relationship, i am finally taking hormones, and of course one of the results of that, which i personally find very positive, is that i am slowly developing breasts. However, my wife finds this prospect disturbing. If i simultaneously try losing weight while they grow, is it likely to make them less obvious to her? I understand her difficulty with the prospect and was wondering if this would help. In an ideal world i would just let them grow, but it doesn't look like a viable option i'm afraid.

  • What would a chimera be like in "Heaven"?

Suppose someone's body is a mixture of cell lines and this has caused them health problems. If they are then given a resurrection body and enter the Kingdom after Doomsday, in order for them to be a "whole" person, they're either going to have to continue to be that mixture, which could be seen as an imperfection, or two people, i.e. each cell line gets a body, which would eliminate their identity. So, what would happen?

  • Why would taking oestrogen cause hip pain after hysterectomy?

My immediate thoughts are: increased platelet aggregation, osteopenia (seems unlikely), growth of pelvis or ectopic endometrial tissue. Any thoughts?

  • Would it help me to do anything about finding Barr bodies in a blood sample of mine?

I'm male, and i definitely am because i have a daughter and a son along with the relevant trouser furniture, so there's no doubt about that, but i've always felt really uncomfortable with being male and consistently found that when i make choices and preferences which feel natural to me, i find that most of the other people who like those things, prefer those choices etc., are women, and it's entirely unconscious and natural to me.

So anyway, yesterday i got curious and took a blood film, and it turned out some of my white cells have Barr bodies. This means some of them are genetically female. Now the thing is, i'm happily married to my wife and have two children, am in my mid-forties and my wife definitely wants me to look male and retain the equipment, and of course i am male. But, i really feel that it's not enough just to put up with continuing to be a masculine-looking sodding bloke, and this has really vindicated so much of my life-long feeling that i would much prefer to have been born female. Any suggestions as to what i should do about it? Having my naughties snipped off is not an option and she doesn't even want me to have breasts, which i find quite upsetting.

  • Is Yahoo Answers doomed by our ignorance of our own ignorance?

People don't know what they don't know, but they also don't know *that* they don't know, so surely many of the answers on here will always be answered by people who don't realise their answers are incorrect, won't they? Then, when people choose or vote on best answers, they too will be ignorant, so it won't indicate that it's accurate.

Is there any way out of this?

  • Why is this channel so popular (not my channel by the way)?

This is not my channel BTW. Look at the views here:

    http://www.youtube.com/user/PerkonsWhigParty/video...

So far as i can see, this person makes videos which are far too long, aims his poor quality camera in random directions, doesn't frame properly, doesn't even stay in shot, doesn't script, doesn't plan, nothing. And yet, whereas my meticulously planned, focussed, scripted, clear, carefully framed, short, tentpoled, annotated videos get maybe ten views a month, his gets loads, And you're damn' right if i come across as envious, annoyed and resentful! Anyway, what's he doing right? I don't get it.

  • Any comments on this?

OK, i understand if you don't want to click on this link although i can assure you it's nothing like a screamer or a virus thing or whatever. However, i can't comment on it without causing people's perception of it to be biassed, so could you please just take a look at this and tell me anything that strikes you about the video? Here it is:

  • What offence would be committed if a man were to have an embryo implanted in his body without consent?

Suppose a man was to be successfully impregnanted with an embryo without consent? For instance, suppose he were to undergo surgery for another purpose and the surgeon implanted a zygote or he were kidnapped, drugged and "made pregnant" in this way? I'm thinking GBH or assault but i'm not sure.

I ask because i'm exploring gender issues here. Clearly a rape victim who became pregnant is covered by laws connected to rape and termination, but for a man, there could be no connection between conventional sexual assault and impregnation. So what would his position be? Would laws regarding termination be any different?
