What is your opinion on the teachings found in "The Secret" book and DVD?

Utter bull centered around the teachings similar to those of the notorious Laurie Cabot: "quick-fix magic". Visualizing a parking space before you enter a lot will do absolutely NOTHING to improve your chances of finding one.

I don't discredit the idea of having a better life with a positive outlook. But this pseudo-psychology has just gone too far.

I personally LOVED the book. Like many others stated, it takes several old fashioned, commonly sought after ideas, and allows the reader to develop a new perspective.

Really, it is up to the reader how to interpret the information provided since each of us have had such different lives and experiences. For some these concepts may be played out, overrated, hopelessly romantic. For others *myself included* I see the validity, I don't take it as a doctrine by any means, but valid points meant to help and not harm the soul.

My opinions are such- take what you see as positive and apply it to life, and those teachings that do not apply or you don't agree with, pay no attention. This book was meant to be fulfilling, empowering. Take the good, leave the bad.

Old idea, new improved packaging. Idea of positive thinking and self confidence has been around for ages. Some people get sucked in by flashy videos and talking heads with impressive titles at the bottom of the screen.

I partly agree with it. The power of positive thinking and laws of attraction...

However once it gets to the "universe as a genie" or vending machine parts, I started to lose interest.

How can we have an opinion, the book is Secret!
