Which breed(s) have ever bitten you?

(Other than your own dogs)

I think it'd be interesting to see how different people's answers will be from the stereotypes.

I've only ever been bitten twice, neither of them serious, by a JRT and a Golden.

Update:

OTHER than your own dogs.

Update 2:

It's funny how a lot of these aren't what you'd think!

The only dog to ever bite me was a cocker spaniel. It bit me right on the face to, on my cheek. It was a friends dog, I was petting it all normal and when his sister walked in the room the dog just bit me. I smacked it pretty hard. it hurt alot!

I train dogs and have been bitten by several: Corgi's (twice), border collie cross, miniature pinscher, rat terrier, and blue heeler. These were all dogs that were out of control of their owner-which is why I was there! I have heard of more people being bitten by small dogs-toy poodles, daschunds, jack russels, shih tzu's, etc. than any other. The problem with bite statistics that you see on the internet is that the only bites reported are ones that result in a trip to the ER or if animal control is called. I truly believe that if ALL bites were reported the little dogs would be at the top of the list for bite frequency.

During my twenty plus years of working with dogs, the worst bite I have ever sustained was from a Chihuahua, believe it or not. The little bugger almost took my thumb off. I have also been bitten by a golden, a lab, and a JRT. I work with so called "vicious dogs" and have never once felt threatened by any of these breeds (IE pit bulls, rotties, Dobies, German Sheppard's)

Havent ever been bitten by a dog that wasnt mine-I tend to stay away from "bad" body language. Closest I ever came was a Golden Retriever that was a "truck" dog. Was walking through a parking lot and the dog lunged at me from the bed of the truck. No warning. Nice owner to train a gentle breed to do this.

Have been bitten once by my own ACD.

Shaggy black mutt. Best guess, trying to remember her after all these years, is that she was a Cocker Spaniel mix.... and that wasn't an intentional bite.

It was a friend's dog and I used to go over every morning before school when I was in first grade or so. If I had extra time I'd go out and play with their dog. I think the dog was young--maybe a year or so old. One day my ear got bitten somehow. Had to have stitches. But it wasn't any kind of aggression... just play.

I was bitten in the face by a miniature poodle. Left permanent scarring, and by a chow/golden retriever mix that I thought was going to kill me.

Both dogs belonged to my parents. I now have a pitbull mix and people are scared to death of her because of her breed. She is very well socialized, loves kids, is loyal, knows all her commands and once people get to know her they complement on what a great dog she is. She is 6 years old...has never even nipped another person. Her teeth won't even touch the skin when she is given a treat.

I totally believe it is the owner that makes the dog. We have been consistent with her from the beginning. My parents are way too lax with their dogs, that is why I was bitten.

Hate the stereotypes that people put on breeds. Its just as bad as stereotyping people. Very unfair.

    Blame the owner...not the breed!!

In all my years of rescue, I have been bitten once by a dog and once by a cat

It was by a Spitz. This dog was being dropped off at my vet's office to be boarded. The man was holding it and I asked if I could pet it. He said yes. I reached over to let the dog sniff me and the little bast@rd bit me. - No warning - just quick as a snake.... The dog's owner said - "Oh he does that all the time!" I was furious. It drew blood. Got me right on the knuckle on my hand.

The truth was he wasn't being dropped off to be boarded. He was being dropped off to be quarantined for biting.

    They eventually put him down.

I am STILL mad at that man after all these years.

I read dogs well and have never even come close to being bitten. That dog was just a nasty little monster.

The cat that got me was in New Orleans. It got me through my gloves and tore me to shreds because my idiot friend brought a dog around the truck while I was trying to put the cat in the carrier. I couldn't let it go because I'd never catch it again. The cat freaked when it saw the dog. I had to hang on and try and shove that nightmare in the crate while it tore me up.

Dogs I know what's going to happen. Cats - Leave me out of it.

BTW - My dogs have NEVER tried to bite me. If they did, Oh my.... well let's say this. I don't tolerate biting dogs.

Other than my toy poodle, I've only been bitten my my mom's friend's Pomeranian; but that was because he has having a type of convulsion that causes him to bite (the reason we knew was because my mom's friend said that every now and then he has them (there vet told them what it was called). The other way we could tell was by the fact that we looked like he felt bad and went under the table; and a few seconds later he attacked one of his owners' table legs. My hand was in pretty bad shape and it really really hurt, but it healed completely after about a month (if that).

  • I own a pest control company and have worked in the industry for over 8 years.

During this time, I have been bitten by a Dachshund, a Weimaraner, a little evil terrier mix, and a toy poodle.

I had to go to the emergency room over that damn terrier bite. It ruined a perfectly good pair of work pants and I have a nasty scar on the back of my calf.

Actually, i have been bitten by both a golden, and a labrador, and my son got bitten by a neighbours JRT, which was in my yard, it just squeezed under our gate and went him. Thankfully my doberman protected him, because my son was only 2 at the time, and i was in the yard, so i saw the whole thing, then the neighbous had the balls to send me the vets bill. So i sent them my sons medical bill for the stitches and shots he had to have. They never spoke to me again after than.

I work with dogs who are having behavioral issues.

    Many are Dobermans.

I have been bitten only once.

    Minature Poodle.

I was in the persons living room talking to the owner and the dog was at my feet barking and throwinga fit. I made no eye contact and was not paying any attention to it. It nailed me in the ankle and drew blood.

The owner was very embarassed and upset.

I explained why she needed to do some training even with a minature poodle.
