I want to open a clothing store in my area. How should I go about doing so.?

First of all I would suggest you talk to other clothing store owners. Find out from them what all they had to do and what their start up expenses were.

You are going to need a good location with pleanty of traffic, of course employees and someone to look after inventory, payroll and paying the business taxes on time.

You will also have to set up a business account with your bank. If you are going to accept credit cards, what types of cards are you going to accept, keeping in mind the credit card company charges a per charge fee as well.

What type of clothing are you going to carry? Are you going to go after a certain demographic like teenagers apparel, the 20-40ish age group.

What clothing brands (i.e. Jordash, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi etc.) Are you going to sell casual attire? What sizes are you going to sell to. By that I mean are you going to sell to the 2XL and keeping in mind not everyone starts at a 30 inch inseam.

Put an ad in the paper asking for people's feedback as to what type of clothing store they would like to see come into the community, and use their suggestions to base your decision around.

Personally I don't think there are enough stores who cater just to men. There are tons of women's fashion clothing stores out there, but very few who cater to men.
