    y = 3 times the square root of x?

    yes that is a function

    plug in some values for x and graph it...

    That was a while ago for me.

    Tell me if I'm not correct.

    A function is anything that tells you to complete a given problem

    1/2 is actually a function saying 2 divided by 1 the answer is .5

    5X6 is a function the answer is 30, 30 is not a function there is nothing to do the problem is solved.

    So lots of times we leave the problem unresolved, or with open functions. Any fraction is an open function any exponent is an open function

    Numbers all by them selves are not a function

    =4

    that's not a function it's an answer

    =1/2

    is a function because it can be reduced or simplified

    =.5

    is not a function it's an answer

    Hope that helps

    In the 2 examples you show they are definitely functions, in order to complete them we need to know what / Y and X represent

    It's still a function an unresolved math question

    I hope that answer is sufficient for your level of math

    A function in simple terms has one y-value for every x-value. The same y can correspond to more than one x but the same x can't correspond to more than one y.

    y=3sqrt(x) is a function

    Every x has only one corresponding y.

    Yes it is..it passes the vertical line test.

    again, graph it and use the vertical line test.

    no....a function has only one correct answer.

    y=3x can have more than one value for x and y.
