What exactly are wheel locks??
A car I'm interested in has dealer installed wheel locks as an option for 850$. I'm pretty sure I don't want them and I'm sure that price is way inflated. What exactly are wheel locks and is it something I should have?? It's an 08 Civic SI.

Honda dealers always have wheel locks as an option. They are bolts that screw onto your (rim) lug nut part of your wheel so they cannot be stolen. Hence the word "lock". Most of the time these require a key to remove.
These are not necessary, seeing an '08 Civic SI has alloy rims that cannot be removed without removing the entire wheel assembly.

The only kind of wheel locks I know about are the kind that replace one lug nut on each wheel, and require a special key to remove. You can buy them at most any discount department store or auto parts house for as little as $20. At $850, they'd better come with an electronic alarm system and a full-time security guard!

wheel locks are 1 nut per wheel that u need a key for to take off wheel. good idea if u have really expensive rims or tires. but 850$ is a rip off, u could probably buy them for less than a 100$ if u think u need them

Wheel locks, generally, are a special lugnut that is put in, with the rest of them per tire. It requires a key, which will allow you to remove that extra lugnut. Without the key, stealing the wheels is rather difficult. Not impossible, but difficult.
Ask if this is what they're referring to. If so, $850 is approximately $800 too much to pay.
