help with crochet pattern problem?

http://garnstudio.com/lang/en/visoppskrift.php?d_n...

i am stuck where it says about making a petal on the chart.

Update:

if you look at the chart go up on the 14th row on the left you see a cross with a x in the middle. the problem is that i dont know how to make the petal.

in the symbol it saysstart at the point of arrow, wrap yarn around hook, insert hook in stitch at the other end of arrow and pull up yarn and repeat till you have 6 loops then yarn over and pull through all 6 loops.

I have no idea how this is done.

Update 2:

would it be possible to make the instruction super easy because i really dont understand PrincessV response too well.

When they tell you how to make the petal, DON'T pull any yarn through the loop (or loops) on the hook until you have the specified number. This is what the instructions on the website tell you to do:

= 1 petal. (4 petals make 1 flower). Start at point of arrow, * wrap yarn around hook, insert hook in st at the other end of arrow and pull up yarn *, repeat * - * 3 times = 6 loops + 1 st on hook. Wrap yarn around hook and pull through all loops and st on hook (= 1 st remains on hook).

What they want you to do is yarn over the hook, insert the hook into the stitch and pull up a loop. This will give you a total of three loops on the hook. DO NOT pull the yarn through the loops, instead, do that again and then one more time until you have a total of 7 loops on the hook. Then pull the yarn through all 7 loops.

As for the arrows, that is a little confusing. I'm wondering if you don't make all four petals at once. It looks to me like the bottom petal (the one closest to what will be the bottom of the cardigan) is crocheted when you get to the next row. What I think they are telling you to do is crochet the row above the x, do the next row. When you get to where the x should be, go do the side petal. Then do the top one. Crochet the next set of chain stitches to the next stitch, then do the third petal. continue crocheting until you get to the row. When you get to the stitch below the flower, do the fourth petal.

It is a little confusing, I know. I just don't know how to explain it better without showing you. Experiment with it. If you don't want to unravel the cardigan over and over, you might just have to make a swatch and try it with some different yarn. It might take some unraveling and trying it different ways until you get to something that works. I hope it works out for you.

Looking closely at the chart, I feel that two of the 4 flower petals have the point of the arrow reversed. All arrow points should be pointing to the center X as this would, indeed, create a 4 petaled flower. So, in my description I will just refer to it as "center X" but use the arrows as an indicator where to pull up stitches

*****put your hook at the center X wrap yarn around hook once, reach up to the next row above center X and pull up a stitch (now you have 3 loops on needle), wrap yarn around hook once and pull up another stitch in the same spot (have 5 loops on needle), wrap yarn around hook once and pull up another stitch in the same spot (have 7 loops on hook--6 loops + 1st stitch on hook). Now wrap yard and pull through all the 7 stitches on hook. You are back to one stitch on the hook and one petal on the sweater. Ch 1 and turn 45 degrees*****

repeat the instructions between the ***** EXCEPT that you are reaching over to the other side of the scallop from the center X, there will be 2 petals now.

repeat the instructions between the ***** EXCEPT that you reach down to the next row below center X, there will be 3 petals now.

repeat the instructions between the ***** EXCEPT that you are reaching over the other side of the scallop from the center X and chain 1 and finish off rather than turning.

You now have a 4 petaled flower.

    This is a beautiful sweater/cover.

You're going to have to be more specific with your question. What exactly don't you understand? Wrapping the yarn around your hook? (I don't really believe that's where you're stuck, I'm just trying to point out why more info is needed to help).

initially the 5ch represents 1dltr (the fifth chain is left on the hook- this grant you with the first loop), also leave the most suitable loop of each and every 2dtr on the hook (this grant you with 3 loops) then yarn and pull via all 3 loops. supplying you with a cluster of 3dltr. Then proceed progression with the 7ch. wish this helps
