Background on my pc can't be changed, seems to be locked. Can anyone tell me what the problem may be?

Update:

I've tried all of that but even the pictures that come with XP are locked. I mean it will not let me change it to anything.

On an empty portion of your desktop, right click and pick properties.

Look at the tabs and click on DeskTop

On the left part of the box there will be standard desktop pictures.

On the right you can 'browse' and go to a picture you like for your background desktop picture. Make sure you pick 'stretch' instead of 'tile' or 'center'

Or easy with Windows XP - open a folder which has your pictures in it. Right click on a picture and pick ' Set as desktop background '

    Voila

Usually you hit start, control panel and double click display settings. In there you can set your background.
