How expensive is Rome?

Hi All.

Daft question I know but how expensive are the tourist attractions in Rome. Im planning 4 days in Rome and want to pack in as much as i can. How expensive are the tourist attractions/travel etc over there? (my normal holiday destinations are in Egypt and very cheap!) I dont want to find myself there without enough funds to see everything! There will be 2 adults and one child traveling.

Thankyou for you assistance.

for hotel, you may check few around train stazione, they are small, designed for tourists, and economic. they are close to each other so you dont have to walk long to check 4-5 hotels.

for food, it all depends, you may order a pizza and spaggehtti

with agua to satisfy your stomach wheile enjoying the small but comfortable resteraunts there, it's about 6-15 euro for each. for standard italian meal, you have to consider about euro 15 -30 for each to cover few courses; for tourist attractions, you may want take metro subways or simply walk there from train station, where you may enjoy all the way old nice buidlings, there's no admissions to these attractions, but you will pay some few euros if visiting some art gallaries or museums; no fees to enter Vanticano and S.Peter's church. on the whole, the trip won't be necesarilly expensive if you would check aorund.

It is expensive and as a tourist, be prepared to be ripped off unless you play their game. Get the Lonely Planet guide and use some useful phrases to impress the locals - got me free drinks etc! Also, LP will give you locations for budget eateries and bars. Do yourself a favour and buy transport tickets for the duration which'll save u a packet. Drink+eat in cafes that don't have seating, they are cheaper. Try the back streets up by the Vatican, lots of locals take lunch there+its usually 3 course meals with good service. Just be savy and check out exchange+comparison websites who gives prices of drinks+meals+taxis etc.

Let me explain to you it's not that Rome is expensive, it's when they went from the Lira to the Euro almost everything went to double in price and when it was the lira the exchange rate was much better and now you don't get not even half of what your money is worth.
