I have an inspiron 1501 dell notebook but can't make it fullscreen with the ati driver..any solutions?

the laptop will go fullscreen with a generic windows driver but can't play any games like oblivion etc, when we enable the ati xpress driver which windows installs automatically when we delete the display driver and reboot...it goes back to having a black border all the way around the screen...have tried fn+all the f keys at the same time.....is this a chipset issue or graphics driver issue?any help would be appreciated...thanks

You have to select exactly the native resolution of the monitor in your games.

For example, if your monitor can support up to 1280x800 or 1440x900 or whatever, then your game itself must be set to that 1280x800 or 1440x900 resolution. Some games just don't support every resolution - then black areas WILL appear.
