Job Hunting Problems...Ideas?

I live in an extremely small town of 300 people. The economy has really impacted our county this year, the worst I ever remember it in my life. There are no job openings and any job that opens is gone in 5 minutes. So short of being in the right place at the right time, I have been searching for 11 weeks. Theres absolutely nothing around here, and thousands of people looking for the same thing. Are there any ideas as to what I could do for income?

I am sure like the rest of us you need a steady income. Why don't you keep job hunting and you will get lucky, hopefully soon. Also surely there are some surrounding cities much larger than the small town you speak of, surely you could find a job there. After you get the job try to work your schedule where you can take some classes maybe at a junior college, or even a technical school. I know jobs in the medical field are always needed you can get a job anywhere too in most medical fields, if medicine doesn't suit you find something that does, make sure there is job placement available after you finish your course so you can at least have peace of mind knowing you have a guaranteed job after you graduat. Good Luck.

Relocate to another location. Preferably where you have family, some place you can stay a few weeks/months until you find a new job. I've done this twice. The first place I moved too had jobs, just not good paying jobs in the field I want to be in. So my wife and I moved again and stayed with another family member. Better job market in the new place.

If moving is not an option, lower your standards for the short-term. Work a retail or food service job, work two of those jobs if they don't pay enough. (I am not saying that the people working at those places is a lower-standard) but the jobs are...

Hey, had the same problem, but also was resctricted on hours I work because of my children.

I decided to sell Natrual Pet Food, kind of like Mary Kay but not as stressful.

It is not an easy quick money scam. It requires work, but you can do it on your own hours and actually make a decent income.

I distribute business cards, flyers, talk to Pet Rescues, Breeders, Trainers and Vets etc.

    Also do some online marketing.

This is the only thing that really worked for me.

If you like Pets check out www.HealthyTownandCountryPets.com , click on the opportunity link.

Also if you like Make up or Food there are companies out there you can do the same kinda business. As long you actually work on it you can make a full income.

    Good Luck ;-)

Feel free to e-mail if you have questions.

Tip a million: notice of the plain, like posting questions interior the remarkable class, a potential employer might think of you're incapable of doing the activity in case you won't have the capacity to do some thing so hassle-free as placed up a question interior the remarkable area of yahoo solutions. Tip 2: Use remarkable punctuation, capitalization, spelling and grammar. A potential employer does not choose his business enterprise represented via somebody too lazy to jot down intelligently.

You could open your own business - since you don't say where you live, makes it a little tough - but what if you started an errand running business, a repair business (if you know how to fix stuff), poop scooping business (don't laugh), animal grooming - you just have to try some stuff out.

All of those businesses require less than $500 startup, can be run out of your home, and have potential.

80% of jobs are filled by networking and are never advertised. It is not what you know but who you know. This is especially true in small communities. Make a lot of copies of your resume and give them to your family and friends. Ask them to ask their family and friends. If you make a list of contacts you probably know 50 people and they probably know 50 people. Thats 2500 people in your network. Try to join as many groups, leagues and orginazations as possible.
