bankruptcy?

I'm thinking of filing for bankruptcy, i have 2 accounts that my mother is primary on (car and a credit card). Will my filing affect her?

Update:

These are not the only accounts i have, BTW. I have other accounts that have nothing to do with my mother. I am 38, married, and have a 16 year old. I also own my own home, so i'm not moving back home. The accounts that we share are not behind, there are other things, including my mortgage, that are behind

Yes, the BK will show up on her credit report. It will show that those two accounts were included in a BK and it will affect her score. Try to refinance and get her name off of those accounts before you file.

If she is the primary on the account, then she is the PRIMARY responsilbe party for everything on the account, therefore if you declare bankruptcy it WILL affect her.

Have you written up a budget and confirmed that you cannot make your payments? Your child is 16 and should not need a babysitter, you can get a second job.

I would suggest a consultation with a bankruptcy attorney because I'm not even sure if you CAN do that.
