You have some good things going on in your images. For one, they are in focus (for the most part, a couple of the animals were a little soft) and I don't see too much camera shake. You need to learn about the art of composition. Someone will mention (if they haven't already) the "rule of thirds" and that's a good place to start. Also, keep your horizons in a land or sea scape straight. Your animal subjects are too centered. My favorite animal shot was the little furry critters all curled together. The sunsets are pretty. Someone said all that involved was pointing the camera, and in a way that's right. But there is a reason why people point cameras at pretty sunsets. They are pretty, and most folks like a nice sunset/rise photo. Don't forget to look behind you at what that golden light is falling upon. Just before sunset is a good time to take pictures of people or almost anything because the lighting is softer and directional, the shadows give a more 3D shape to the landscape.

You need knowledge, both about the technical and aesthetic sides of photography. If you are interested in photography as a career (or as a serious hobby) get yourself to the library or bookstore. There are many good beginning photography books. Get a couple and start learning about camera settings, what they are and how they affect your image. Learn about lighting and composition. Study your camera manual to get the most from the equipment you have. Visit professional websites and look carefully at the images. Pay attention to the composition and lighting, then try to make similar images yourself. Decide where you succeed and where you fall short. Then learn and practice some more. If you can take a class locally it will benefit you. Join the photography club or yearbook staff at your school.

When you ask a place like Yahoo for critique, you may get all sorts of opinions. Some people will gush over every photo and tell you how great they are. Some are rather mean and will tell you how awful they are and you should put up the camera. Some will give you an honest opinion, might be good or bad, but will try to give pointers or resources to help you improve and learn. So don't take anything that's said here too personally. Keep practicing and learning and your skill will grow. Best wishes!

The images are ok snapshots. The first thing you should do is to turn off that ugly date/timestamp, because it spoils your images.

You have plenty of time to learn the basics of photography (read as many books/photography tutorial webpages as you can regarding aperture/shutter speed, composition, lighting etc).

    Take a course or two...

The more you shoot, the more you learn, the more your photographic skills will grow.

I like the 6th one the best.

Watch your horizons. The horizon on the 7th one is a little crooked. Be careful when shooting directly at the sun.

    Good luck...

great meerkat shot! Lighting is a bit rough but if you learn how to adjust your cameras settings and keep practicing you have a good chance. There are many, many sites out there that represent artists and sell their images for them, which is what I do. I recommend investing in a great DSLR camera (I myself love the Canon 20D and the Canon Rebel XT) and learn how to play with the settings.

These days its not just how the picture looks (whats in the picture, where it is positioned) but it is also the quality of the photo ( no grain, no noise, no blur - clients like to add those in themselves)

Just remember that there's no skill in capturing something already beautiful or interesting with your camera. There's real talent in taking something boring or "everyday" and turning it into a photograph someone can stare at for hours. Annie Leibovitz is genius at this. She takes pictures of famous people- even though most of the people are good looking her photos tell a story far beyond face value. Stay away from cliches too- flowers and sunsets may be pretty to look at, but they're boring.

Sure you do, keep working at it. Read everything you can find about photography. And, what makes the second shot good is the girls face at the bottom.
