If I am a Nextel customer, can I switch to a Sprint phone?
I have a two year contract with Nextel, but I'd like to upgrade to a Sprint smart phone. Of course, Sprint uses a different network protocol. Since the companies have merged, can I switch to a Sprint handset? Thanks.

Indeed you can.
Also, Sprint/Nextel carries hybrid phones now. The ability to use both networks at no additional charge.
I have the hybrid, and love it. There have been many times, as you may have noticed, that when the IDEN is not working(no service area), that you are unable to make any calls out. With one of the Hybrid's, you have the ability to still make calls, using the CDMA Sprint side, even if the walkie talkie is not working.

Yes! They're one and the same company. Call their customer service to make the switch.
