Turning right on red when a Yield sign is present?
I was issued a citation for "running a red light," because I did not come to a complete stop when turning right on red. I was in a right-turn-only lane, which becomes a new lane on the crossroad. The turn-only lane has a Yield sign posted. Does this not indicate that a full stop is not required?
4 AnswersSafety1 decade agoWhich opposing muscles are necessary to work along with a bench press?
I've been having some shoulder pain with heavy benching. I think it's rotator cuff pain from poor form (initially), and from imbalance in the joint. Which back/shoulder muscles are necessary to work in addition to those worked by the bench press to prevent shoulder injury?
3 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoWhat's the difference between the Bowflex Classic home gym and the Bowflex PR1000?
They are priced similarly and seem to have very similar feature sets. The PR1000 looks like it's available at retail, but I can only find the Classic at the Bowflex website.
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoDoes a V6 engine have more inherent engine braking than a 4-cylinder?
I recently got my first 6-cylinder car, and I've noticed more aggressive engine braking compared to the 4. Is the resistance/weight of the drivetrain that much greater in a 6?
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoDo brand new cars take time before achieving their rated gas mileage?
I have a 2010 Camry SE (V6 275hp), rated for 19/27 MPG. I got 18.6 on my first tank of mixed driving, then 24 on a highway trip (~80mph). The engine has 700 miles on it. Does good gas mileage take time to break in?
8 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoIs it bad for a new car to do 4 hours of interstate driving?
I have a V6 2010 Camry with 600 miles on it. I've heard it's not good to submit the car to prolonged periods of the same RPM during the break-in period. Any opinions on a 4 hour interstate trip in this car so soon?

10 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoWhat is a good resource for new car dealer incentives and holdbacks?
I'd like to know what incentives a car dealer gets from the manufacturer to sell the car, as well as the "holdback" price they include in the invoice. Is there a good resource for this information?
3 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoHow does purchasing a new car with CarsDirect.com work?
CarsDirect.com lets you configure a new vehicle, and it gives you a price. This price seems to be substantially below MSRP. Is this a suggested "target price" for negotiations with a dealer, or is it an actual price quote for purchase? Anybody ever used this website?

Thinking of a new Camry SE, either silver or black.
8 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoDo you like rear spoilers on sedans?
I'm looking at the 2010 Ford Fusion Sport model. It comes standard with a real decklid spoiler. I never cared for the appearance of spoilers too much. What do you think?
3 AnswersFord1 decade agoWhere should I shop for an aquarium?
I'm looking to start a freshwater aquarium. I'm aiming for 40-50 gallons, I like the bowfront form-factor, I need a modern-looking stand to match the aquarium, I need filters/pumps/etc, and I don't want to spend a lot more than $600. What's my best bet?
6 AnswersFish1 decade agoIf mutual funds distribute all of their capital gains and dividends, why does the NAV increase over time?
If mutual funds use most of the capital gains and dividends of their portfolios to make distributions to investors, why does the fund's net asset value (NAV) increase over time? It seems that distributing these gains would cause the NAV to remain steady, or to decrease.
2 AnswersInvesting1 decade agoWhat is the difference between non-deductible IRA contributions and contributions to a regular taxable account?
If you make contributions to a traditional IRA which are not tax-deductible for whatever reason, how is this any different from contributing post-tax dollars to a regular taxable account? I thought the only difference was that IRA contributions were tax-deductible. In the case of IRA contributions which are not tax-deductible (due to income limits, e.g.), what is the advantage of an IRA?
6 AnswersPersonal Finance1 decade agoHow are capital gains taxes assessed?
If I buy a mutual fund in a taxable account, I will owe capital gains tax if I make a profit. Are those taxes only assessed when I cash out of the fund, or do they factor into my tax bill each year?
Also, do I have to pay income tax on the money when I cash out of the fund?
4 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoWhy does my internet speed tank if I don't reset my wireless router daily?
I have a Road Runner cable connection, and I run it through a Linksys WRT54GS V7 wireless router. I routinely get 6Mbps down and ~700k up. For some reason, after around 24 hours or so, my speed and performance dips drastically. I get 2Mbps down, and I can't even start the upload speed tests. Latency goes way up. It's almost as if I'm suddenly behind a firewall. Unplugging the router and turning it back on solves the problem instantly -- for the next 24 hours or so.
What could explain this bizarre behavior?
5 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoDo 401(a) contributions count against the annual Roth IRA contribution limits?
My employer uses a FICA alternative (401a) plan, which takes mandatory pre-tax contributions from my paycheck and puts them into a retirement account. I think I saw some literature that warned that these mandatory contributions might count against IRA contribution limits, but I can't find any evidence to support that. Can anyone help me with this question?
