Where should I shop for an aquarium?
I'm looking to start a freshwater aquarium. I'm aiming for 40-50 gallons, I like the bowfront form-factor, I need a modern-looking stand to match the aquarium, I need filters/pumps/etc, and I don't want to spend a lot more than $600. What's my best bet?

Here are a couple of good links for you to check out:
http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/shop.cfm?c=3...
http://www.oceanicsystems.com/products/
Also check out your local Pet Co / Pet Smart stores as they sometimes have decent sales / packages. Bow fronts are great, I own two of them, a 46 bow front, as well as a 45 Corner. I use Canister filters as I think they work the best.

Don't go for anything under 30 gallons, and go on either Kijiji or Craigslist for all your needs. Usually you can find people's entire setups for very little. In fact, just yesterday I picked up a 10 gallon brand new tank with top for 10$, and I got an aggressive fish tank with a huge Green Severum Cichlid, 35 gal tank, filter, heater, stand, and everything else all for free because of Kijiji. Good luck, and be sure to do your research before choosing each and every fish.

Get a 20-30g, you can find them used on Craigslist for a really good price.
Small tanks need a lot more maintenance, larger tanks like 20+ are less maintenance.
Get some De-chlorinator, food and gravel.
If you get a 20g than get a filter that filters 150GPH and a Heater suited for your aquarium, I prefer the Stealth type.
Good luck!

I like craigslist and Ebay. Can get great deals on used tanks at either place. If you want to go new, check out your local petstore.
