Turning right on red when a Yield sign is present?
I was issued a citation for "running a red light," because I did not come to a complete stop when turning right on red. I was in a right-turn-only lane, which becomes a new lane on the crossroad. The turn-only lane has a Yield sign posted. Does this not indicate that a full stop is not required?

A yield sign indicates that you do not need to fully stop unless an obstacle is in the way. Therefore, it was completely legal for you to make this turn.

I'd think the red light trumps the Yield sign, but that sounds like a crazy setup. maybe you should report it to the street/highway department. Still, you could try taking a photo of the intersection showing both the light and sign and see what the judge says.

As long as you do not interfere with the traffic where you are merging, it is legal for you not to stop.

You got burned! Hope you have the will to fight it, but the chances of winning are not good.
