Why does my internet speed tank if I don't reset my wireless router daily?

I have a Road Runner cable connection, and I run it through a Linksys WRT54GS V7 wireless router. I routinely get 6Mbps down and ~700k up. For some reason, after around 24 hours or so, my speed and performance dips drastically. I get 2Mbps down, and I can't even start the upload speed tests. Latency goes way up. It's almost as if I'm suddenly behind a firewall. Unplugging the router and turning it back on solves the problem instantly -- for the next 24 hours or so.

What could explain this bizarre behavior?

I wonder if your wireless is secure. It may be that hackers find you, log on and hog bandwidth. Once you shut it down, they go elsewhere for a while and come back later. Make sure you have invoked strong security.

Also see if you can update the firmware on the router as this may be an issue. See maker's site for firmware availability and instructions. Never use a wireless link to upgrade firmware

Because the wireless router has its own RAM (very little by the way.) If it gets full, or just close to maxed out, it will run a little slower. Resetting it or powering off/on will erase the RAM (you can see this because once you do this you need to redo your SSID and password and any other settings.)

    May be cable connection

    =

Login to cable modem & restart.

    - Alternative: With a straightened paperclip, press RESET button momentarily.

this so interesting, you may wanna ring RRunner tech support, so they can check hub source on outside. Since they renew IPs every given time that could be a reason.
