US. Police shows (reality) - what's with the (cough) high speed chases?
The narrator will sensationalise "the sedan barrelled down the highway at speeds of 90 mph before finally losing control".
Now I know that many north American cars & SUVs are not exactly noted for their handling (more thier springy comfort), but honestly - when watching a UK show - and it has to be 130mph+ for the voiceover to made a big deal....or about 180mph if it's in Germany!
Are the drivers just incompetent - or IS 90mph a big deal in the States?
I KNOW these speeds are illegal and very bad (blah, blah), I just find it so dumb...the need to make these speeds ON A STRAIGHT HIGHWAY sound 'scary'...comments?

The one that gets me is Alastair Stewart on Police Stop - when talking over a european chase video, he often says "This lunatic is travelling at over 50 Kph..."
Big deal - that's about 32mph!
Still, at least he doesn't show each crash about 6 times - and his voice is slightly less irritating than "Sheriff" John Bunell.....

I know what you mean, there was one on tonight where a simple swerve caused a hopeless SUV thing to barrel-roll 6 times. I know American cars are set up with ride comfort as a priority over everything else but...Jeez! I think it shows the folly of their rigidly enforced 55mph speed limit - most drivers simply fall asleep in their big, comfy, automatic tanks!
Another thing concerning the drivers, and I know we've got incompetant loonies here in the UK too, but when there are only two pedals, how hard can it be to hit the brake and not plough straight through a shop window?

There's no autobahn here in the states for starters.
Most televised high speed chases on TV in the states are actually in the cities where people are at risk.
And last if they don't put some dramatics into the dialog who would watch the show.

that's because most people in the u.k do about 90 anyway on the motorway(freeway) unless they are passing a police car! so if they try to get excited at 90 mph, then British people just say, 'so what'!
