jaguar v6 3.0 engines - difference in x-type & s-type?
I drove a 2001 3.0 s-type tonight and it seemed a little underpowered compared to the same size 3.0 V6 in an x-type (2002). Just no aggressive acceleration, but still very smooth.
Have done some reading and note that the x-type gets around 240bhp, yet the s-type is only 210bhp.
Is this correct? Please provide Jaguar / Jaguar forum proof not just wikipedia if you can.
2 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation9 years agoWhere can I go for a good, relaxed breakfast in Dundee (Scotland). NOT a fast food place.?
I'm meeting friends in the morning and don't know where to take them as I don't know any of the cafes or restaurants in the local area.
Give a good suggestion - and if we go you'll get best answer!
1 AnswerOther - Dining Out9 years agoWhich car would you chose and WHY?
I've just sold my XJ8 to a nice old chap from Aberdeen who's paying me 'top whack' and some compliments for the nice example that it is .
Anyhoo - have my sights set on one of two cars. Like them both for different reasons.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7 with LPG...or...Jaguar S-Type 4.0 SE.
Jeep's a lovely metallic green with acres of tan cow and some nasty fake wood.
Jag - silver with black leather and more toys than you can shake a stick at...and some nasty fake wood.
Both OK mileage - good service history and excellent condition. Full MOTs and plenty of tax.
Technical specs courtesy of Parkers so may be a bit sketchy:
JP - 4.7 16v V8 - 0-60 220bhp 8.7sec 124mph 5sp auto
JG - 4.0 32v V8 - 0-60 281bhp 6.6sec 150mph 4sp auto (I was sure it's a 5 speed though)
Overall internal & external sizes are about the same.
Jag a lot more refined, Jeep a bit more fun.
Jag...endless power, Jeep...dirt cheap to run.
it's just so - "apples & oranges", i like both for different reasons. Jeep will be a 'cheap' hoot being LPG...and will probably retain a better resale value. Jag...just friggin' awesome power and no worse on petrol than the present one.
I only ever keep a car for a year tops (much to my wife's dismay) as I find some poor excuse to get another one. (Boot's too small / I've always fancied one of those...etc.)
Really can't find a sensible reason either way - so any notes of experience of either vehicle welcome. At present I'm 55/45 in favour of the Jeep...but then that little voice inside my head that likes kicking the as$ of chavs in corsas has a chuckle.
I don't mean to offend, but please don't mention the phrase 'carbon footprint'...it's just my 'big boy's toy' that'll do minimal mileage - doing my little bit to help warm Britain up.
1 AnswerOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoHow do you SHRINK leather (on a seat) that has become stretched?
6 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoUS. Police shows (reality) - what's with the (cough) high speed chases?
The narrator will sensationalise "the sedan barrelled down the highway at speeds of 90 mph before finally losing control".
Now I know that many north American cars & SUVs are not exactly noted for their handling (more thier springy comfort), but honestly - when watching a UK show - and it has to be 130mph+ for the voiceover to made a big deal....or about 180mph if it's in Germany!
Are the drivers just incompetent - or IS 90mph a big deal in the States?
I KNOW these speeds are illegal and very bad (blah, blah), I just find it so dumb...the need to make these speeds ON A STRAIGHT HIGHWAY sound 'scary'...comments?
5 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoWhat causes a headache or a migraine?
I've only ever had four or five migraines in my life - (not just headaches), and lost the best part of today in bed wanting to die to make it stop. The whole nine yards - distress, vomitting etc.
But what causes the pain in your head? The brain is devoid of pain receptors so it's not actual 'brain pain' - what IS it?
11 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoDo you think that Sponsored / Official Questions should be dropped?
This is a service for 'the people' is it not? There are quite a few 'sponsored' or 'official' questions in Yahoo! Answers these days. Sainsbury, Think! and many other politicians and 'celebrities'.
Do you think this an abuse of the Yahoo! system - using US to gather marketing materials, promote themselves or ask the same idiotic 'mobile phone' question five times?
8 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoBridge tolls - is the Green Party just dumb, or Tory tax puppets?
Today it was confirmed that the bridge tolls on the Forth & Tay River crossings are NOT to be scrapped. The Green party votes made sure the tolls stayed in place.
They reasoned that scrapping the charges would INCREASE road congestion...and therefore pollution as more poeple would travel.
Are they retards? There are one hour tailbacks EVERY NIGHT on both bridges, bringing traffic to a standstill, all burning fuel going nowhere, the congestion (especially in Dundee) blocks the City Centre road EVERY NIGHT instead of allowing free flowing travel.
Do you think this was a good policy?
Should they be scrapped?
I think if they Greenies REALLY had a grip on reality maybe the tolls could stay in place & the funds used to plant trees...a MUCH more green policy than trying to stop / disuade somebody crossing the bridges...for the sake of £0.80!
What do YOU think would be the best option...in the REAL world.
2 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoMoral dilema. My postie (mailman) peeled off the 'signed for' sticker on a package. What should I do?
He has peeled off the 'Signed for label' which is to verify to the sender I received it. because he can't be bothered taking it back to the depot he's carefully peeled off the label and put it through my letterbox anyway.
This is 'mail tampering' at worst, and certainly fraudulant behavior as he will have had to fake a signature to take it off the tracking system.
Do I complain (this is the second time he's done it) and risk him losing his job...as the Royal Mail will start an investigation into an allegation this serious. (With evidence).
I know it was this kind of package as I know who sent it, and I have a tracking number - and he left the second part still on the back...
8 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoSeriously. What does it appear that Vegans & Vegetarians are openly persecuting Omnivores for their choice?
Sorry, but a lot (not all) of the 'rants' that appear in this section are vegans & vegetarians having a go at omnivores.
Each has made a choice. So why must the non-meat eaters make a mockery of being pro-choice in their eating habits by attempting to 'preach', 'denounce' and generally persecute those who CHOOSE to eat all types of food.
You don't see too many omnivores trying to force their lifestyle here by ranting on...and on...and on with pages of 'source material' copy & pasted verbatim from the internet.
19 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoDopey "chefs" that can't do a simple order. Complain more or just boycott the restaurant?
I go to a few local restaurants, but like(d) one in particular as it's friendly & the food is normally excellent.
BUT, the last three times I've been there they've screwed up my order. I like my steaks medium rare, so here's the story so far:
Arrived well done (ruined) - mentioned when paying for meal.
Arrived rare - mentioned when waitress came over (but I didn't want to wait as with other guests)
Arrived medium/well - edible.
Last night arrived VERY rare (mooing) - sent back, came back VERY well done, on same plate - utterly disgusting.
So, should I write to the manager & get some free stuff. Silently remove my custom. Or complain bitterly on Yahoo! Answers & never go back?
16 AnswersOther - United Kingdom1 decade agoWhere in Windows XP are Emails & addresses stored?
I had to re-install XP after a massive system failure (new motherboard) freaked out my system.
I just used another drive to put XP back on - but I'd love to retrieve all of my old emails & addresses still stored on the other drive.
Where are the data files for Outlook Express stored? And can they be imported / read?
2 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoStopping 'security certificate' popups?
Windows is driving me nuts!!. I had to reinstall windows & ever since (2 days) every time I log into a 'secure' https site I get hammered with explorer popups about invalid certificates, sites like Ebay, Paypal and even Yahoo!
Where is the setting in explorer to ignore / turn off these pesky pop-ups?!?
5 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoIf 'suspect liquids' are to be banned from planes - what about alcoholic drinks?
I'd never thought about this until today..... most 'spirits' are about 40% proof & burn REALLY well. Just one match or a lighter and it's blazing infero time.... they wouldn't let you carry 5 or 6 litres of petrol on board or any sharp objects, so why breakable GLASS filled with ALCOHOL!?!?
Never mind the infamous 'shoe bomber' - what about 'booze burners'!
8 AnswersAircraft1 decade agoWho else thinks the Media is just looking for a story?
It's got me thinking, all this talk of heatwaves is just media hype....
Just like the MILLIONS predicted to die of 1. birdflu, 2. SARS, 3.AIDS 4. Varient CJD, 5. Rotweiller attacks 6. Spanish flu 7.heatwaves caused by Global warming, 8. Freezing conditions....caused by, yes, global warming, 9.Mobile phone handsets or transmitters frying your brain 10. al qaida & W.M.D.s
It's a sad state of affairs when 'David Beckham's injury' can come before & get a bigger coverage than '6 people killed in Iraq'.
Is the media corrupt? Have they been 'bought' by the government to mislead us? Or are they just giving us what we want - death & destruction?
