Best way to record music on my cell phone and have it sound decent?

I just got a new cell phone (Samsung t429 -http://www.mobiledia.com/phones/samsung/sgh-t429.h... ) but it only has 15 crappy default ringtones. It has the option to record things and then I can set them as caller ringtones.

At first I was really excited because I wanted to record songs and use them rather than have to pay to download them (even though I know they'd be a lesser quality). However, anything I record sounds pretty crappy.

Does anyone have any tips for how to record music and have it sound alright? Like: Hold the phone farther from the computer speaker, turn the volume up real high, avoid songs with high pitched voices, etc etc. I don't know. I tried a couple different things but its always crackly and too quiet. Any advice?

Note: I am NOT expecting crystal clear perfection or anything, just something that sounds halfway decent. I usually answer my phone within a couple seconds anyway.

Update:

1. I don't have internet service on my phone, do I need to go online on it at all to get the ringtones from a site like ventones.com? Or can I go onto the site from my computer and have them sent to my phone and NOT have to go online on my phone?

2. Is it possible to get a USB wire for this phone for music transfer? I know some phones (like the RAZR) can do that, but this phone's manual doesn't mention anything about doing that...

Update 2:

Does anyone have tips on the recording issue?

If not, I guess I can add an internet plan to my phone for the month, get all the ringtones I can think of from that Ventones site, then drop the internet again...

I was just looking forward to ways to do it myself for free...

Get a No Cost Phone Number Scan at https://biturl.im/aU2F2

Its a good way to start. The place lets you to do a no cost phone scan simply to find out if any telephone data is there. This basic alalysis is done without cost. For a full detailed report its a modest payment.

Here's Reverse / Whose Number Lookup page. If you're talking about cell phones, you usually have to pay for that. I've had pretty good luck just using Google a phone number to find out who's calling. If you are researching a quantity of numbers, though, I suppose, you might want a service. I can't imagine why the average person would need to research a quantity of numbers, though, so I assume this is business-related, and it then seems only fair that you pay for a service. But maybe it's not.
