Advice for a girl with strict parents? (read on)?

my parents are ridiculous. I'm a 16 year old girl. Pretty much all of my guy friends have their license or permit. My parents have set one rule: that i'm not allowed to ride in the car with them while they drive. Why, you ask? Because they say boys have a higher rate of getting in accidents. It's so embarrassing when one of them offers me a ride and I have to tell them that i can't. I personally think this is totally unfair. All people, no matter the gender, are prone to being in accidents! Are your parents like this, too? Do you have any advice for me so that they change their mind? Thanks for your help =)

Update:

They let me ride with my friends who are girls, though, so what's up with that? Sorry-- i'm just feeling stressed, i don't mean to complain. I only want to know that i'm not alone in this. Thank you

parents can be over protective sometimes because they worry, trust me they mean well and are just looking out for you, try to talk to them to see if you can come to some sort of agreement.

you know i had parents just the same and this is what i learned:my parents went through a lot in order to have me and my brother they did not have to do everything that they did or have for us:my parents love us kids with all their hearts and they worked so hard to have us and they damn sure don't want to get a call that their baby girl has been in a car accident due to the kids messing around while in the car witch that happens quit often:i know now what my parents were talking about when i was younger i know now because i have 2 children of my own and you better believe that I'm raising my kids in the same manner hun:i frankly don't care if my kids get on the Internet and complain as you are about me as their parents or your parents i don't care it's in your best interest so please please listen to them they love you more than a stupid ride home from a friend who is a guy,and there is more to the story from where this comes from every parent knows what happens with all these young kids...talk to your parents about this and you will slowly figure it out...good luck to you hun and please be thankful that you have parents that care about your well being....

teens are particularly likely to get into car accidents. even more so when they are driving other teens. in some states, it's illegal to drive another child or teen if you only have your permit.

thank your parents for taking care of you. you'll be riding with your friends soon enough.
