It depends on what Christian or what type of Christian you ask.
It bothers me also that many witers on the various religious and scientific subjects can't seem to avoid vitriol when describing the activities and doctrines of the opposite camp.
I normally answer question as reasonably as I can, though much of what the Bible points to contradicts what Atheists, etc, believe, so if you don't like what they say in quoting the Bible, then try not to worry too much about it. Try asking a more difficult question, something you know we can't answer. Your best weapon is your certainty that we are wrong.
On the other hand, don't throw out everything we say. Ignore the vitriol, but deeply think about the other things we say. Some of it will be reasonable and worth listening to.

Yes. Yes to all.
I had an original thought about a trash can that would be used indoors with a remote control for people who couldn't get around very well. And it would have a lid that would close up to contain the smelly things. And the lid would have a servo on it so that the person could press a button to open it, and then use the same button to close it again. And the can would remember where to go in the room when it wasn't needed.
I thought that was original, don't you?

Christianity ( and somewhat the Greeks) has always spoken of the two books of God, the revealed truths and the natural world. You could say there is nothing original in the world too but you fail to see the lack is in you , in your understanding, in your imagination -- heck, in your just plain knowledge. What a surprise to folks when the plain old world turned out to be made of chemicals and those of numberless particles. It wa there all along. We were 'unoriginal'.
Same with Scripture. A couple thousand years pass and John Henry Newman writes exquisite insightful sermons on the Bible and reveals hidden worth. We were 'unoriginal' not the Bible.
Read John Henry Newman's "On the Development of Christian Doctrine" and you will see that there are always new connections, insights, deductions, speculations to be made on the same Bible.
But, yes, some people are not very creative in their answers, but so what. Are you a sparkling creative volcano all the time.

I am more than happy to answer any religious based question on the Bible.
I don't do cutting and pasting unless something is written in a way that is more clearly written than how I could write it.
I do however quote Bible verses and write them out for people to read ..as it is Gods viewpoint I wish to convey , and not that of my own.
My wisdom is limited , but the true God - Jehovah's wisdom is infinite and trustworthy.
Currently I answer about half a dozen GOOD questions sent to my email by people here for answers every week.
They obviously appreciate the lack of attack and the clear and true words I speak.
For more bible based information , please feel free to email me.

Of course it's possible, and it does happen a LOT on here, but do you notice?
By the way, I NEVER:
Cut and paste without citing my source, if I do it at all.
Quote chapter and verse from the Bible unless it's relevant to the question.
Insult anyone.
Accuse anyone of being anything.
And yes, I do have my own original thoughts and answers, thanks.

I do it all the time....
and I don't quote alot of stuff
and I don't accuse anyone of anything cause I'm guilty myself
and
here's an original thought: how about not lumping one group of people all together like so much play dough?
if you think that's an insult, you would be wrong - it's a suggestion, and it is with just cause.

While I assume that you feel as though your question is rhetorical, I have seen many a Christain answer questions without much negativity. Just the same though, I understand your complaint. Seems as though there are just as many mudslingers on either side of the spiritual canyon.
To answer your question, I am mature enough to answer any question without the other stuff.

Maybe atheists should ask christians to quote from the ORIGINAL languages their so called holy books were written in, after all, that was the language they were INTENDED to be understood in? I mean, if the Bible is God's holy word, are we assuming that the Christian God speaks English?

well, some of us quote the bible as a means of providing a basis for the belief. Showing something scripturally shows parameters for what they believe.
But overall, I think this sort of answered the question itself, and I do think it's a shame that some of my fellow believers have to resort to name-calling.

I don't think it's possible for an athiest to answer a question from a christian without incurring a huge amount of thumbs down!
