My mom was popular in high school & my dad was kind of like Fonzie(he even had a duck tail) thay met in 1961,when after cheerleading practice,my mom & her best friend were waiting in line at the water fountain/After my mom took a drink, she turned around to talk to her friend,my dad was standing there. And the rest is history.Imagine the cool guy & the cheerleader. What drama!! Incidentally they fell in love,he was 16 & she was 17 & they wanted to get married but my grandparents were totally against it,so they created me,they were married in March of 1963 & I was born in September of 1963,I was 12 when I finally did the math on that one,(being born on the 9th month made it easy).

My father and my mother's brother used to be in films together and my grandparents used to hold a sort of
salon on Sunday, replete with Badminton games and
swimming. My grandfather was a Veterinarian who used to
take care of a lot of film people's pets, so everybody
was over there all the time. My uncle brought my dad
along one Sunday, he saw my mom and they literally fell in love at first sight. She beat him at Badminton and from what
I can see of the pictures, wore pretty short shorts and
had those fabulous little round John Lennon sun glasses
and huge, flaming red hair. Who could resist? Two
weeks later, she asked him to marry her...they eloped
to The Little Chapel of the Bells in Las Vegas and were
blissfully married for 30 years until my dad died. They
were as romantic at the end as in the beginning.

my parents actually had a very weird meeting. my dad was from a town 20 miles away from where my mom lived. and he was about 20 when they met. my mom was a rebel in high school. and my dad saw her at a bar one day (back when the legal drinking age was 18) and asked his buddy (from the town she lived in) who she was and he thought it was love at first sight and he would always follow her asking her out. being where she was and eventually she agreed to one date and they have been together ever since

They met at a disco club back in the late 70's. My mom thought my dad was hot and vice versa. But they're divorced now.

My mom just got divorced (she was 18) and staying with her sister. Across the street my dad was staying with his Aunt, while he was on break from the Navy. My dad would stare at my mom all the time, and he finally got up the nerve to ask her out. They dated a couple of times, then my dad asked her to marry him before he was deployed again. My mom said "yes". My mom thought my dad was okay, but wasn't sure. Then was going to write him a "Dear John" Letter and decided against it. They get married in Nevada - and while my dad celebrated and drank - my mom had to stay outside because my dad was 21 and she wasn't. They will be married for 34 years in August.
My dad was from Southern California and my mom was from Northern California.
(*I met my husband at Konocti Resort in Clearlake, CA. We were both union stewards for SBC and we met at a training there. I lived in Sacramento, CA and he lived in San Jose, CA.)

Arranged marriage...
At least that what I tell people, it sounds more exotic and interesting than "they met through a friend of a friend who know my mother's father, who arranged the formal "first date" out of desperation because his daughter is fast approaching 30..."
Wait a second, that does sound like an arranged marriage

At work, they both worked for the same company and they would run into eachother a lot. Eventually my dad asked her out and not too long after I came into the picture!

My parents met at a party. It was funny because my dad didn't even want to be there. His friend had to practically drag him there. I don't think my mother even wanted to be there either. She said she knew she wanted to marry the minute she saw him. They've been together since (30 years). ^_~
