If you are a verizon wireless customer and are buying a phone off ebay does it have to be a verizon phone?

    It does not have to be a Verizon phone, but it has to support the Verizon technology. Verizon uses CDMA and many other comanies use GSM. Sprint and Verizon are the only large companies that use the CDMA technology, so it will have to be either a sprint or verizon phone.
