why does it seem like all republican plans favor the rich and big business over the working family?

Almost a rhetorical question. Republicans tend to be more conservative, and conservative values favor business.

But I'm disappointed that Democrats emphasize helping the "middle class," and no longer talk about the poor. Of course, they'll get more votes and more financial backing from the middle class than from poor people. However, it suggests that politicians in both parties have now accepted it as a truism, that people vote only on the basis of self-interest.

Oh yes, conservatives through out the years have done this time and time again. What do think Eisenhower's speech on the Military-Industrial Complex was all about? Ideology is only popular consumption, real politics has always been based on trading support for rewards. All the speeches and rhetoric about principals and greater goods are mostly BS. Many Neo-cons are out to bankrupt the government so it can never pay for, or levy taxes for, another social program ever again. If you don't like these clowns -start working and voting against them, because if you're not with them -they're out hurt you.

They do, and so do the democrats, because both want nothing but a larger government.

When the government costs about

you cannot claim that big business is not the main

benefactor in such bloated bureaucracy

Every dollar of that is taken by the people.

If the government was a smaller, more constitutional size, estimates show it would cost about half. This would leave a ton of money available not only for the economy, but the normal people. Most importantly, it would help to maintain value of the dollar which greatly effects average people.

Right now democrats want to do nothing but expand that 3 trillion dollar government, just as the neocons do. This creates more debt, and devalues the dollar, which effects you and me, and the normal people the most. Big business is not effected by this, because they have interest gaining options to stay above the devaluation of the dollar.

The best thing that can happen for the working family, is for the dollar to regain its value, and the income tax and the IRS to be abolished (which can only be done by eliminating unconstitutional government programs).

the poor already pay NO taxes- NONE- the bottom 40% pay none at all and if we have kids we get other peoples money back in the form of earned income and child tax credits. The top 5% pay 60% of the federal taxes and so forth

Who do you work for? Corporations supply jobs and products. The more expensive it is to do business, the less jobs and less affordable the products. Businesses are not fleeing America because they are getting over, they are fleeing because they are getting the shaft- and oh, who is a shareholder? EVERY person with a retirement fund!!!

The US has one of the highest corp tax rates in the world. While other industrialized countries have been cutting their rates for the past 10 yrs but not the US. With state taxes calculated in, the avg corp tax rate in the US is 40%- Just the federal alone is 35%- Canada has been dropping its corp tax rate as has Germany and many more.

I think more people would benefit from taking 2 or 3 economics courses because most of what you all say is emotion driven and runs 100% contrary to reality.

Anyways, if you want jobs and economic growth, cut the corp tax rate and reduce the excessive regulations and it will happen. Dont do it and you will continue to see jobs move over seas

The republicans you have today is a mixed variety of disenchanted democrats and independents.There is widely held belief by the republicans that if we let them make and keep all the money they will let some trickle down to the rest of us.When you have all the money you want the financial problems of the average American doesn't matter to you.Most republicans see themselves a the privileged class.The rest of us are the peasants of society. We just don't count to them.We are the problem classes.

From whom do you think the working family get their paychecks? From the big businesses. Hurt the big business and you hurt the working man who relies on the success of the big business. Read up on what happens to the economy and working class families when liberals go after business and tax them to death...the unemployment skyrockets, as is what is going on right now in California.

As for "the "rich" as you call them, the top 50% of wage earners pay 96.03% of income taxes.

Because if there were no big businesses there would be no small businesses and there would be no working families. Why don't we all just work for the government, they can supply us all a house, car and food. That way no one everything is fair, no matter if you work harder than the next person you get exactly the same. Doesn't sound to much like what our founding fathers had in mind.

Here's the thing, this country has HUGE bills...and not just because of all the "welfare and poor slugs who should get jobs or the illegals."

We owe TONS of money for this war....anyone who speaks of cutting taxes right now is just plain STUPID.

We have a HUGE bill to pay and the rich people are gonna have to cough up some dough to pay for their guy's war...even if you slash education, stop welfare all together, and never help another poor child again.

It would have been a hell of a lot cheaper if Cheney and Bush had just paid Risk in the situation room.

I dont quite understand your point. Bush cut taxes on the middle class. Are you saying that not only do your taxes have to be cut, but anyone who has more money than you must be PUNISHED and then you will be happy? Things are not black and white as you try to portray. Corporate America, the economy and working class families are all intertwined. Please quit buying into the dem strategy of dividing America with class warfare.
