My sister's four year old dog keeps attacking my ten month old puppy when she never did before - no idea why!
My sister has a dog who's about four years old now, a husky/lab mix. I rescued a mixed breed puppy in July.
The husky/lab mix was getting along fine with our puppy whenever they played outside until my puppy was about six months old. My sister noted that her dog would unexpectedly attack my puppy for seemingly no reason, or be very aggressive towards her. Since then, it has gotten worse. My mother, sister and I all live up the same rural driveway, and our dogs roam freely between our three yards. The husky/lab mix has been our 'guard dog' as of late and things were fine until she started being really aggressive with my puppy, especially when my sister got a little beagle mix pup, which my dog loves to play with. The older dog will now stay at my house and chase my dog away when I call her to come home. We get mad at the older dog, but she still attacks her and chases her away, or the dog will chase her off the properties and not allow her to come home or to any of our yards - help!
The husky/lab mix is a girl, and my puppy mix is a girl, and they are both spayed. The husky/lab mix has never even had a collar on before, let alone be tied up. I now have to take my dog out on supervised walks with the leash when it wasn't needed before because she wouldn't leave the yard, but the older dog won't let her come home/will chase her off the property(ies) now. :(

It sounds like maybe your older dog is a little jealous. Spend some time with the older dog without the puppy. Maybe the older dog is territorial? Is he neutered? That may be one of the causes of your problem. The older dog may feel very protective if the puppy is not neutered yet. Try bringing the older dog into the puppys yard but always keep in eye on them. Hope this helps at all

Dogs fight over items of value to them. Dominance is one item, food, toys, human attention, breeding rights, territory are all items. Hopefully the husky mix and now your puppy are both neutered/spayed so breeding is not an issue.Sometimes adolescence 6 mo.+ brings out more obnoxious behavior and the husky is simply disciplining the pup. You might want to invest in obediance training classes for your dogs to help you get a handle on the situation to keep it from getting worse, whatever the trigger.

Sounds like strong dominance/territorial issues. The older dog now sees the younger one as an adult threat. Look around for a good obedience trainer.
