when the soul leaves the body, is the soul cognizant of the absolute truth and its relationship with god?
does the soul still carry attachments to the physical or completely forgets the mortal world and its relations. just seconds after the soul is separated from the material body is the soul aware of its destination or is the soul confused about its new journey? Does the soul remember all its past lives.

This all depends on ones consciousness at the time of death. If one has practice self realization and at the time of death remembers God (also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, Rama, etc) and gives up all attachments to this material world, they can fully transcend and return to the eternal kingdom of God. But if one acts as an animal and does not make any spiritual progress in their life at the time of death they will most likely just die in darkness and next life be put into a womb of an animal or other lower species of life according to their consciousness. There are innumerable opportunities for what our next life it. When we leave this body we take with us our mind, intelligence (or lack of it) and our ego) if our ego is still on the false platform then we will have to take birth again. In the womb of a mother the soul generally becomes fully conscious at 7 months and begins to pray They remember their past life and what they had done. They begin making pleas to God. Such as Dear lord I promise I will serve you in this next life if you kindly get me out of this dark airtight compact bag I am in. Then when the child takes birth they forget everything by the shock of the trauma and entering the world. It is also Gods will they forget so they can then fulfil their new desires. But the only thing they take with thiem is their past karma and past spiritual merit. This is all written in the Srimad Bhagavatam srimadbhagavatam.org/... you can do search there on this. Psm.7:2 Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.
THE SOUL IS THE WHOLE PERSON
God's spirit is the life of the soul, James 2:26; Eccl.3:19-21; 12:7; The spirit returns to God who gave it Psm.104:29,30; 1Cor.15:22-28,51-53; As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive, as Jesus has shown Luke 8:50,52,54,56; The spirit returns from God to give life again [ Adam is out ],
there is no sin.

The soul is the desperate hope that life still exists after death.
Stop believing in this and start living for the present.

Yes. The flesh will no longer be the thick barrier that it is to the spirit. The "memory" of all you have done on earth will always be in you soul. Your soul is the memory of all the spirit does.

When a person dies, his soul dies. As Ez. 18:4 says: "The soul that is sinning, it itself will die."
Eccl. 9:5 says: "For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all."
Ps. 146:3, 4 says: "Do not put your trust in nobles,
Nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs. His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground;
In that day his thoughts do perish."

Anybody who tries to respond to your answer is lying. Nobody here has died, nobody here has truly seen a spirit or experienced any at that...this is fact. You'll find out when you die, why think about it right now?

there is no god
the question is moot

Yes the soul is conscious. There is no "soul sleep." There are no past lives.
Eternal torment for unbelievers, eternal bliss for believers.
Paul when facing martyrdom said that a believer who is absent from the body is present with the Lord.
2 Cor 5
5Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
6Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
11Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
Mark 12
26And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
27He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
Rev 20
10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Revelation 21
1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Mt 25:46 "And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
Rev 14
9And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
Luke 16
20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
27Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
29Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
