How can you stop a bird from flying into the windows of your home? We've tried holding up the cat.?

The reason a bird flies into your window is not because it thinks it can jus fly right through to the other side. It sees it's reflection, and birds, especially male birds during mating season, will charge a "threat" that is in their territory.
You can try covering the window with a sheer mesh fabric. (staple it tightly on the outside, along the frame of the window) This will not only eliminate the bird's reflection, but also allow you to continue to see outside. You can also hang decorations on your window such as pretty suncatchers or seasonal window clings. This will show the bird that this is an obstacle, and not competition, and will curb this behavior. If you have installed a bird feeder in the area, you might want to relocate it to a stop farther away from your house, making the "window free" area the new meeting place. :)
And also remember...if the bird happens to injure itself by flying into your window, please contact your local animal shelter to get the number for a wildlife rehablitator. They can help save the bird's life and also release it in a different area, away from any houses.
Hope this helped! :)

we have this problem also. I looked and I see the trees reflection in the window, so they are trying to land in a tree that is a reflection on the window. We closed the shades. It stops the reflection. The windows that have shades, they don't fly into. Just the ones that are left open. Hope this helps

I'm assuming you're talking about a wild bird...
My grandma had the same problem with sparrows at her place. She took to hanging windchimes, as well as blank or unwanted CDs (preferably double sided with no cover, so it's doubly shiny) by strings around her back porch and near the window. The sun would catch them and they'd glitter and blow around strangley, with strange noises coming from the windchimes and the birds didn't come close. It also stopped them from nesting in her rafters.

Wild or a pet?
If it's a pet, close the curtains or use nets on the windows.
