Starts fine, Idles fine, bogs when gas pressed - Kia?

We have a 2000 Kia Sportage (ack.)...

About 2-4 weeks ago, it started losing power on hills. Quite suddenly, as of a few days ago, it starts fine, idles fine, but has absolutely no acceleration..the engine just bogs down. It doesn't die, it just doesn't DO anything.

This happened while my husband was driving the car - suddenly, no acceleration.

We added gas treatment and replaced the fuel filter, but that didn't help. The plugs have been replaced recently.

Any clues?

Thanks,

Julie

Update:

The engine light is *not* on. Would that preclude both the TPS and MAF?

Thanks!

change the fuel filter. If it still does it after you change it then the fuel pump may be weak.

Could be a mass air flow meter problem (MAF), or maybe a Throttle position sensor problem (TPS). Engine light on?

The first thing that comes to mind is the TPS switch and the second one would be the Cold Sencer .

check the air filter and clean out the throttle body.
