Maria Sharapova Nationality Question...?

I know she was born in Russia and moved to the USA when she was 7. So, does she claim Russia or America as her nationality when playing tennis?

Update:

Thanks, guys! I was just confused because during the 06 US Open, they ran a short segment featuring the US players. James Blake, Roddick, you get the idea. And during the segment they showed Maria. I knew she was Russian, so I was confused as to why they were showcasing her with the American players...

All of the Tennis Players practice and are working with agents in america. Most train in Branton at Bolleteri (international Flights go in aand out) and Athletes Performance(Carson,California) It is no longer cold war but a millionaaiares war. There are no boundaries in Tennis, Golf, Footbaall, Baskerbaall aand now Soccer. Goodwill Russian make USA aa lot of money.

She is Russian and she will be a Russian until she changes

her mind. She holds the Russian passport and has been in

the Russia's team events and she plans to play with Russian

    as her nationality.

She is Russian and represents Russia in international play. I think her mother is mostly living in Russia. There are a lot of young players training in countries not of their birth by the way.

Here's one of Maria's quotes "I definitely feel Russian inside, even when I'm in America I feel Russian."

She is Russian, has Russian citizenship, and represents Russia. She does not have U.S. citizenship and does not plan on becoming a U.S. citizen as far as I know.

  • I see how she claims to be Russian, but if she came to USA at age 7 wouldn't you consider yourselve american.
