Sony DSC-H9, does it have image quality problems?
I read for the past weeks that Sony DSC-H9 has problems with image quality because of too much image compression. For an 8 megapixel camera, its photo file size is around 2 mb. It has no feature or setting to adjust this file compression. I have been using the camera for a few months now and it is starting to disappoint me. The photos are not as sharp as I expected. Though I heard it takes good macro photography but I am more of portrait, fashion and architecture photography. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks!

I haven't got my hands on a Sony DSC H9 yet but this is what i learn about the camera from browsing on the net..
It does have issues with Image stabilization, resolution and focus.
For more visit this link which consolidates opinions of multiple expert reviewers of the camera -

To resolve you should try one of these mentioned at DCResource
"the photo quality is pretty lousy at high ISOs" and "For more effective image stabilization you'll want to use the "shooting" option, which only activates the IS system when the photo is actually taken."

Now you know why professionals always insist on RAW format. If you've already got your camera on the highest quality setting and you still don't like it, shop for a new one. Maybe you sell the old one on Ebay. By the way, I'm happy with the Fujifilm Finepix F10. It's six megapixel and at the highest setting each picture is about 6MB. Even at the regular setting they're about 3MB. I'm not sure what web site or other resource would make it convenient to browse different digital cameras by their file compression options though.
