severe sharp pains in abdominal area?

My cousin had a gastric bypass several years ago. She toterated that well. every once in a while she would get sharp stabbing shooting pains that ratiates from stomach area to back area,,, and now she gets them all the time that she can not work nor stand the pain. she has been to ER rooms and they seem to can not find the problem. Does any one seem to have that problem since gastric bypass or a year after wards?

Have they checked for adhesions (scar tissue)? This has been a problem after these surgeries and many other abdominal surgeries. They need to do an MRI to see them clearly. These can usually be repaired but that requires more surgery. Talk to the doc!

First, it sounds like you were feeling your cervix which is located at the top of your vagina and is in fact smooth and somewhat spherical. The pain you are describing sounds like you may be suffering from endometriosis. I use to have the same kind of exruciating pain with intercourse and was diagnosed with it after it became too much for me. An ovarian cyst is not something you would feel from your vagina. A skilled OB/GYN doctor would not even likely feel this. The one caveat to that is if you do have endometriosis in which case you can get rather large endometriomas on your ovaries which may be palpable. You need to see a doctor for further workup and treatment. Another indicator that it might be endometriosis is if you have painful periods and painful bowel movements.

I like the idea that the other poster stated, scar tissue/adhesions. The gut can form very strong adhesions, some can be so strong they will constrict intestines. This is a good bet.

It could also be an ulceretive colon or pancreatitis.
