I have a very loud co-worker.?
I actually have to insert ear plugs sometimes so that I can concentrate on my job. I have asked to be moved to another area, but all the equipment I use is in this room. She does not use any of it, but she doesn't have a problem, so she is not asking to move. She curses, is bossy and arrogant, and is totally a bigot ("Your opinion is always wrong; mine is always right.") My manager has attempted to diffuse the situation, but to no avail. As you might guess, someone who won't listen to YOUR opinion won't listen to her manager's either. So we all suffer from this. I won't even go into the annoying cell phone rings and incessant personal calls, of which we can all hear every word. I am at a loss. Should I pray for tolerance and keep wearing the ear plugs, or should I leave?
Added later. I have taken this to the manager of human resources as well as my own manager. There are no higher people here. Thanks for your suggestions. I will keep the ear plugs handy for now.

if this co-worker is such a disturbance, why are your supervisors not reprimanding her? why would you quit your job instead of going to upper management and having them do THEIR jobs? you may need to rethink your position and the order of disciplinary action in your office. be proactive rather than reactive.

Be the 'squeaky wheel' and complain to supervisors until they move her. You could also in a 'nice' way embarrass her a bit by calling attention to her distracting behavior. Perhaps simply saying "I really, do need to get my work done and can't concentrate with all the excessive noise could you kindly keep it down?" Who knows maybe she will ask to be moved if she gets called out enough by you on it...Good luck!

If the boss won't do anything about it, there probably isn't much you can do. You can try asking her to be quiet, turning her cell phone to vibrate, etc.

tell the supervisors and if they don't listen to you or the co-worker doesn't listen to them then just tell the co-worker to SHUT-UP! and if that doesn't stop them then ask to be moved to a different departement

maybe you should go higher up the corporate food chain and express your concerns.
